    Money in football

That's quite a cynical view. I'd say the balance was the other way for the most part, with one or two exceptions of course. I'm sure Elon Musk has had some luck along the way, but I think his PhD in energy physics from Stanford had something to do with his subsequent success.

Saturday's Game - Behind closed doors

Robins mentioned they'd be a couple behind closed doors at the kit launch. One was at Villa. He did mention the other club but I can't recall.

    Bolton away

Not sure what's happening exactly, but they have played a couple of friendlies and managed to field a senior side. There is a takeover going through by all accounts - so generally I think they are confident they will start the season, but they seem reluctant to release tickets for sale until...

    Bolton away

Bolton are yet to release season tickets for sale to their own supporters. The way it's going we'll receive our allocation very late, which could impact on numbers a lot. Would be a shame, as it would be good to take a large backing to this game.

    First ‘Home’ Game Attendance

Yes, all games up to Xmas on sale.

    Season Ticket Sales

Remember though, if anyone buys a single match ticket, that seat becomes unavailable for ST sales - so when you're looking at ST dots, you're seeing the ST and match tickets sold. That said, they've only sold a handful for Southend so far. Doubt anyone is in a rush.

    St Andrews confirmed!

Nobody is clinging on to anything. They see it for what it is, a small positive in a sea of negatives. No reason to think the pitch at St Andrews will deteriorate, it didn't last season. Most pitches hold up well nowadays, that pitch we played on at Pompey in April was like a carpet. The...

    First ‘Home’ Game Attendance

Last 3 home games were MK Dons (2782, 1731 home), Swindon (3091, 1999 home), Wolves (4252, 2082 home). I think it bottomed out against Stevenage in March, but the 1260 home fans that day wasn't too dissimilar to the turn out for the first couple of games. The point being that the crowds at the...

    First ‘Home’ Game Attendance

Crowds at Sixfields didn't dwindle, it was the opposite. Only 1400 City fans turned out against Bristol City for the opening home game, and they grew steadily (with one or two exceptions for midweek/televised games) up until Christmas peaking with the 5K gate against Peterborough (total gate)...

    ifollow

Exactly this. I might do 15 away games a season, but for those I don't do, I'd happily pay to stream it. They allow you to do this for midweek games if you are a UK resident, so only a matter of time before they open it up for Saturday away games too. I've heard it said that ifollow is now an...

    First ‘Home’ Game Attendance

Don't see how it can be that low. ST sales are approaching 2.5K with over a week of EB to go. Boddy was predicting 3K when he spoke last week. It might fall a little short of that, but with match packages yet to go on sale, advanced ticket sales, POTG and away fans (I think Southend might...

    Ponti

Exactly this. When they first break into the side, the supporters naturally have a little more patience, but once they become established they, if anything, become more of a target. Bayliss and Shipley received more criticism than most last season, often by people who take this contrarian...

Callum Wilson to sign new 4 year contract with Bournemouth

That could well be the case. There just seems to have been lots of talk going back years of Wilson leaving Bournemouth, but it hasn't happened. You get the feeling he is very settled there - both on and off the pitch. It wouldn't surprise me if he stays at Bournemouth throughout the peak of...

Callum Wilson to sign new 4 year contract with Bournemouth

I think this is a big blow. If Wilson was ever going to make a big money move it was now. At the kit launch, Robins spoke of how in previous seasons he was made to wait to see what money came in from transfers out before he knew what his budget was; but this season they have allowed him to go...

    Hummell

I'm sorry, but that argument just doesn't stack up. It's bonkers. How do they cope in Greece, Italy and Spain, where they have eye-watering levels of youth unemployment? Those 3 countries also have amongst the world's lowest suicide rates. Mental health issues are just better publicised and...

    The Roost Pub

Given that it's very much a Blues pub, you'd think maybe they'd be a bit stuffy about it, but looks like the opposite so fair play and you can't blame them for taking advantage of 25 extra matchdays.

    The Roost Pub

It was bouncing in there a couple of seasons back. Think we ended up dancing on the tables with a hen party.

    The Roost Pub

I have received an email from The Roost (pub nextdoor to St Andrews) following an enquiry about whether they would open to City fans on matchdays. Thought it would be worth posting: Hope you’re well. In short yes. We have already reached out to a couple of the fan forums and will be welcoming...

St Andrews travel, parking & drinking

Is anyone planning to use the pubs close to the ground, I think there is The Roost and Cricketers Arms? They're off limits as an away fan, but should be OK for our games?
