    Bricks at the Ricoh

Before they took on the nickname 'Eagles', Palace were known as 'The Glaziers' so nothing to do with our Bill :)

Both Venkys & Bet365 are worth over a billion. They might decide to rein things in a little, but their losses are still a relative drop in the ocean in reality, unless they decide to pull the plug of course. That's possible at Blackburn I guess, but not Stoke where the owners are fans. Even at...

    Pivotal Sky Blue Moments

Didn't know about Flowers, but remember the other 2 being reported as close to signing. Around that time others that we were linked with as being close to signing were Dennis Wise and Ian Dawes, who I was desperate to sign and replace Downs, who I saw as our only real weakness at that time.

    New supporters club near town?

The 'great pro' type you regularly rip apart!! He certainly always gave 100% and for that reason I don't really want to slag him off, but he was extremely limited, a poor man's Mick Coop if you like. I know its only a drinking booth but it would be frankly embarrasing if he were to win any vote...

Only voted Curtis. Can't believe Shaw is in that list 😖

The trouble is that some of our overspending counterparts are not hamstrung the way we are in not having owners who are 'supporters' of the club, and whose primary interest in owning the club is not therefore success on the pitch. Other clubs with seemingly far worse finances than us have owners...

    New supporters club near town?

Never saw him play but I voted Reg Matthews. Born in Cov, first Cov player to pay for England, which he did while we were in Division 3. Honourable mentions to Jim Blyth and Bill Glazier who I both preferred to Oggy.

Treading carefully here, but I notice that the ex Huddersfield owner has allowed a restructuring of the repayment of monies owed to him, of loans made with 0% interest. I don't like this idea that our owners who are supposed to be acting in the interests of the club at the end of the day, are...

    Ricardo Dinanga

I mentioned before, but it doesn't seem to have dawned on people that MR (and most of the guys he wants to sign) are probably on holiday right now. I'm not surprised things are quiet.

    Pivotal Sky Blue Moments

Yes Zenden was mentioned in the papers at the time. Of the others I think Henry, Van Nistelrooy & Trezeguet were mentioned in the 'Staying Up' book, didn't ever know about Melchiot or Ljungberg. In the 90's papers also linked us to signing Nakata, Okocha and Lalas. This thread also reminds me...

    Chuks Aneke

So who did your source tell you about before that was correct, and when did you post on here about it? Why would he know this information, other than by an educated guess? Of course, your 'source' is already wrong on this one. First you told us this was happening last week - it didn't. Then it...

    Championship next season

Just don't see how we can afford to do that. I think loans will be brought into play, not sit on the sidelines.

We all know how this pans out ........... if it's not announced this week then you'll get told its next week etc etc, until you eventually strike lucky.

    Championship next season

Given our finances I can't see us not heavily relying on loans, and the success or otherwise of those loans will define what kind of season we have. I certainly don't see a mass influx of permanent signings.

I'm not in the know, but will hazard a guess at 'no' being the answer. Probably more chance of being correct than those 'in the know'!

    Play-offs

To make matters worse Newport were the better team (granted neither were much cop), and they could have easily had a penalty themselves in the 1st half when the Morecambe keeper punched the Newport forward in the head. I'd feel very hard done by if I was them.
