    1. McSheffrey doesn't track back. which since we expect full-backs to get forward, is a good part of any winger's game. 2.Baker scored all his goa;s for stockort playing jus behind the strikers (i.e. at the point of the diamond), which leaves 3. Bell - say no more. As for Eastwood having a bit...

liquidation looms, admin if we are lucky

The problem is, Jan, I don't think they HAVE a plan. They don't understand football, but they do understand making businesses profitable by reducing costs. Unfortunately, if you do that too much with a football club you end up in a downward spiral: the product gets worse, the income drops, you...

I said for some time that we don't get our midfielders going past the strikers often enough - but to get into the box, not to the goal line. If you're expecting that, you play 4-4-2 - i.e. wingers, which we ain't got.

We want SISU out? i do now

So where is this fabled width going to come from? Thorn chose to play the diamond for two reasons. First because it was what thee players themselves said they were most comfortable, and second (and most importantly) - WE DON'T HAVE ANY WINGERS! You have to play a system that fits the players...

FAO the ‘Thorn is a miracle worker’ lot on here

First, I don't believe there's anything in the advert about replacing "The best thing since sliced bread" - not a job requirement. Second, performance of previous managers has nothing to do with it. We're filling a hypothetical vacancy here. Third, to move out of "advert mode", the diamond is...

FAO the ‘Thorn is a miracle worker’ lot on here

"WANTED: New manager for struggling football team. Must be able to finish the season in mid-table at least. Failing that, avoiding relegation may just about be satisfactory. Must be able to work with young (some extremely young) players and one or two who can't be arsed. Will be required to play...

Most loyal or deluded fans in the league

You couldn't get that number in Highfield Road - so of course we would have been better playing it there wouldn't we? That's not a dig at you ajsccfc, just a comment on those who think we should never have left HR

    Tactics tommorow

I know doom & gloom is a characteristic of SBT, but I seem to remember we played well against WHam, & if we can play like that again, who knows. Cardiff are not as good, and 4-5-1 was what WH played first half. They only really got on top when they matched us up & brought on Cole & Piquionne.

    Turner and Gunnersson

4-5-1 will suit us. It was what W Ham played first half, and we all but murdered them.

Most loyal or deluded fans in the league

Actually, our average attendance at Highfield Rd rarely got above 17,000, and in 1986, the year before we won the cup, it was 13000. In fact even then it only got up to 16000. HR held under 23,000, and the only times it was full was when teams like Man U, Liverpool etc. played. On the other...

CT saying Dulieu's figures don't stack up

Compare those wages quoted by the CT and the Championship average and you begin to wonder what sort of business ability some past chairmen had. Osbourne £5000?

    Highfield Road or Ricoh?

I'm amazed you were in a fit state to watch the game! It sounds like more of a Saturday afternoon pub-crawl than a football match. Seriously though, I can appreciate people missing HR. I first stood on the old Spion Kop (where the East Stand was built) and the atmosphere was terrific, but those...
