I believe similar instructions were given to many of the crew of the Titanic.

    Great Moments At CCFC Games

A few of my favourites: Hillsborough in '87 - getting to Wembley for the first time was the main thing. The Wolves game in '67 and Brian Lewis tormenting Wolves. Old Trafford Christmas '71, United were running away with the league and we went there expecting a hammering. City 2-0 up at...

    latest statement from Mr Appleton

Do get it right. Doncaster pay £100k a year and all expenses. Previously, they were paying no rent but £281k a year to cover running expenses and it was costing the council more than this to run it. So, the true figure is around £400k a year - for a 15,000 seat stadium. Edit - I should have...

Guess who got the Premier League Job?

I wonder if there is a second prize here? "Sorry Gary, you didn't get the job. Anything we can do to help with your acquisition of Coventry City?"

    latest statement from Mr Appleton

Maybe an invoice has been presented - to the company that ACL have the contract with. I would be amazed if we don't see Holdings in administration very shortly - its continuing existence and pretences to be relevant have become farcical. Holdings in administration would, I am sure, make life...

    latest statement from Mr Appleton

One could read into the statement by Mr Appleton that Limited & Holdings are inextricably linked and that it is impossible for other parties to do business with and for administration of Limited be effective while Holdings are not in administration. Perhaps that was the real intent of this...

CET: Sky Blues take Coventry City Council to high court over bailout

Just to be clear here, my informant was well aware that this was a request for a judicial review and was quite specific that any party requesting one must be able to prove that they have been directly effected. This point was specifically made and hence why I highlighted it.

CET: Sky Blues take Coventry City Council to high court over bailout

It could be. They could claim they were trying to destabilize ACL and had to say that at the time - depends on how low they are prepared to stoop -

CET: Sky Blues take Coventry City Council to high court over bailout

Just had an interesting chat with a corporate lawyer with one of the international firms in the City. In the absence of any detail and as the lawyer's experience does not cover local government, this is informed opinion rather than legal opinion. The main point to come out of this opinion was...

SISU open a potential can of worms

CCFC is very different from their main business in that they do have 100% control and 100% responsibility. Also, can you name any succesful investments in the last 5 years?

SISU open a potential can of worms

4,381 square feet at £56 per square foot = £245,336 per annum. They are quite happily paying £250k per year for this, but clearly don't believe the Ricoh is worth as much!

SISU open a potential can of worms

Nonsense. SISU's only other business is in administering a hedge fund which invests in businesses. As for the running of those businesses, they sometimes get to appoint a director who is usually one of the loser types we have seen coming and going at CCFC.

SISU open a potential can of worms

Not many. In Rotherham however, there was Millmoor but the owners of this didn't complain about market distortion.

Are we really reduced to this?

I do hope they are not describing it as "Official" merchandise!

SISU open a potential can of worms

Rotherham's new ground was built with a £5m loan from the council and £4m ERDF grant and there are probably many more examples. Any ruling against Coventry City Council would probably leave these deals open to challenge, so I am hopeful that common sense will prevail and there will be no...

    The Golden Share...

Unfortunately OSB, it does sound like a plan. We desparately need the Football League to find some moral backbone and refuse to have anything to do with CCFC while SISU have any involvement.

CET: Sky Blues take Coventry City Council to high court over bailout

Skyblueswiss might have been thinking about this quote by Cllr Mutton on April 15: "There is no net cost to the council – this is a commercial arrangement that will provide a modest surplus to plough back into services and jobs." A modest surplus - possibly more could be earned in a high...

CET: Sky Blues take Coventry City Council to high court over bailout

I think it might be difficult to enforce reversal of the transaction - Yorkshire Bank have certainly done nothing wrong and any reversal would risk punishing them.

CET: Sky Blues take Coventry City Council to high court over bailout

My understanding is that as the company that own the golden share are in administration, the Football League will have a say about fit and proper ownership once that company comes out of administration. Hopefully, looking over the shoulder of the Football League will be the MPs on the culture...
