Yes, but with another good season, then you get bigger fish coming in next summer. Move now, and it's more difficult for those bigger fish to get you. Neither would big enough steps up to be worthwhile for a player that seriously backs themselves, imo.

It would actually surprise me if Rudoni or Hughes actually agreed to move to Southampton / us. It would be a small step up, but would make it much harder for larger clubs to sign them in the near future. I don't think either move would necessarily be in the players' best long-term interests.

Raphael was good. He runs with the ball really fluidly and looks like he can ghost past men well. Good balance. How he'd look against better teams remains to be seen. Promising, though. Feel a bit for Simms. He did some good things, but those chances were laid on a plate.

Turgid. Andrews had a good start but then went off the boil a bit; Raphael looks good moving with the ball but doesn't look like he quite knows when to release it. I like Allen, but this isn't his role, he's pointless deep in midfield. Oh, and Thomas has been awful.

He looked very good in a couple of his early performances, but the prolonged run in the side he had either wasn't advisable based on where he is in his development, or found him out. I'm not sure which, tbh, but I think it's very likely Lampard thinks its the latter.
