    What needs to happen?

I’m sorry to say that if we lose at Crawley I believe we will go down. Notts County and Crewe have matches against sides with nothing to play for. If it happens, we will deserve it because we will have lost the last two games of the season in straight fights against our closest relegation...

    Next SCG meeting

Presumably embracing a team that has moved 85 miles is wrong because it’s a kick in the teeth for the people who … embraced a team that had moved 30 miles? And even though those people weren’t even bothered enough to stage a protest, and many of them love what’s happened, we have to endlessly...

    Brizzle Match Thread

A lovely set of results, phew! I didn’t share most people’s confidence before today, but I’m far happier about our survival prospects now. I confess that, bad as it sounds, I had almost stopped caring when Pressley was here feeding us the weekly diet of utter tripe. But with TM in charge, at...

Players 'we' thought were shit but....

Not sure who “we” are? I genuinely always thought Dimi was a very good goalkeeper. The deliberate misspellings (Konstantdropalot, Kantstopalotofshots etc.) may have been amusing, but they didn’t reflect his ability.

    Highfield Road Memories: Goals

Ernie Hunt curling it into the top corner over the Burnley keeper from almost the halfway line - about 1971 I think. Sheer brilliance, watched it with my Dad up in the Crow's Nest.

    5 things from today's game

We agree about the second goal. But for the free kick, are you saying he should position himself on the side of the goal that is behind the wall? Really not the keeper’s fault - the wall failed to jump and it only just cleared their heads. Also, it wasn’t Burge who gave away a barmy free...

    5 things from today's game

I don’t see how you can blame the keeper if a guy bends one just inside the post, over the wall and at pace. I was more worried by Burge stepping back and actually widening the angle for the second goal. As with Stokes, we can’t afford to have lads learning their trade in this relegation scrap.

    Chris Stokes

I thought Stokes generally had a decent game, but marred it with a huge and very costly blunder. He’ll be good at this level when he acclimatises, but we can’t afford to be nurturing people in this situation. And as Stupot said on another thread, the tactics (both before and after the change...

    Great article - Mowbray

I’ll bet Tim nearly choked on his roly poly pudding when he read the original article. I’d love to have heard the ensuing phone call.

    Great article - Mowbray

Do you mean that the article in the Daily Telegraph originally mentioned the ring road but has since been corrected?

    Great article - Mowbray

I love this article about Mowbray and the way he describes his ambition, and his passion for the game and attacking football. If the words translate into action, I may find my love for the club reignited. But I’m baffled by the “ring road” debate. The article says “Coventry officials said on...

    Fisher: Support the team

Unfortunately Tim, the widely-predicted effect of your clever Northampton policy has proved all too real. I used to go out of loyalty and an unbreakable habit, but I will only go now if there’s a special reason. That special reason isn’t an appeal from the likes of you. Maybe you think I’m a...

    Great individual performances

Agree about Fergie – met him once after a game and he seemed like the salt of the earth. Not the most elegant player – I remember him passing the ball back to the keeper from the halfway line once, and it cleared the corner flag! But as good a header of the ball as you will ever see, and an...

    Great individual performances

Difficult at my age to remember anything at all :) A couple of individual performances do spring to mind – Chris Cattlin marking George Best out of the game at Highfield Road (1968?), and Gordon Strachan’s remarkable effort in a home game against Chelsea at the age of about 40 I think, which...

If they can't get land for 10,000 jobs then they won't get it for a stadium.

I have a little bit of knowledge of the Planning system, and you are right to assume that the Green Belt is a very strong policy which (as this latest decision shows) is hard to overthrow. However, many of the boundaries go back for decades, and circumstances change. The present Government...

    Who wants a public enquiry?

Really well-argued Torch, and it makes me feel that an independent report or inquiry is probably needed, or the suspicions of many people like yourself will linger for evermore. Having said that, I’d be really surprised if the Council were found culpable. Call me naïve, but I just can’t see...

    Sad reality of our city

Thanks for bringing up one of the top ten most memorable nights as a City fan - those were the days when we could take on arguably the best team in Europe and largely outplay them. And to return to the main topic, I lived in one of the Warwickshire towns and I'd say 80% of kids who were...

Why Did The Council Sell To Wasps?

Sorry about the caps - as you rightly say, they don’t add to the argument. Everyone wanted our club to own the Ricoh, so we’re all on the same side. The differences are in whether you think SISU ever made a respectable attempt to buy it. I don’t think they ever did, and they made it crystal...

Why Did The Council Sell To Wasps?

I have spent the last decade wanting CCFC to own that stadium and become a major force in English football. But does anyone really think that the elected representatives of the city could have TURNED DOWN the Wasps proposal in all the circumstances? I agree that the piece seems slanted, but...

Alan Higgs Charity Slams SISU over legal costs

Sorry to revive this, but I can’t agree and it’s an important point. I genuinely don’t get the repeated claim that SISU offered more than Wasps. Let’s just suppose for a moment that the judge was completely wrong, and SISU could actually have persuaded the bank to take a £10 million hit on...
