Wasps Coventry move vs. CCFC Northampton move

This is 100% the problem! Moving sports clubs is a terrible idea, and I hate it. In this case, once the Wycombe move was made (12 years ago I think), it was always going to end in tears. They moved to a pretty ropey site which isn’t in keeping with their status, but started building up a...

Club’s owners “not prepared to take on the risk” of sharing the Ricoh

If the stadium was still useable after the Friday (just kidding)

Club’s owners “not prepared to take on the risk” of sharing the Ricoh

Just a thought guys, and I’m sure a crazy one. If Wasps sold (say) half the revenues of the Ricoh to CCFC for an annual fee, that annual fee would still be an income for Wasps from their stadium wouldn’t it, and presumably accepted by the RFU as such for revenue/spending purposes. At the same...

Club’s owners “not prepared to take on the risk” of sharing the Ricoh

A total misrepresentation of my view. I haven't got time to say more now, you'll be relieved to hear :)

Club’s owners “not prepared to take on the risk” of sharing the Ricoh

Sorry - the question is easy to answer. If CCFC were moved elsewhere I'd be furious because they absolutely belong in Coventry. With Wasps it's different - do they belong in Wycombe where they built up a bigger fan base after being moved out of London many years ago ("franchised" if you insist...

Wasps Coventry move vs. CCFC Northampton move

Nick – really not intending this to be confrontational but you've totally misrepresented me. I said in my post that it’s complicated and that I respect the alternative view. They only put the “London” into their name as a branding thing in 1999, but it never caught on especially after they...

A total misrepresentation of my honestly-held views. See my response on the Wasps bit of the forum.

Wasps Coventry move vs. CCFC Northampton move

See my reply to Grendel. I really believe what I've written, and phrased it in a way that fully respected the alternative point of view. Didn't I?

Wasps Coventry move vs. CCFC Northampton move

Try answering some of the points - they are genuinely made, unlike the lazy "franchising - booo!" argument. I wouldn't presume to tell the Wasps fans where they should play, and a very large proportion of them love the Coventry move. Since you know better than them what they should do, please...

You're right, it's perhaps the endless obsessed threads. However, I did find the unexpected translation amusing. No big deal.

I’ve put a few thoughts about this on the Wasps bit of the forum. I admire your principled stand, but think it’s more complicated than you believe. Tell me where Wasps should really be playing now - on the other sub-forum of course :)

Wasps Coventry move vs. CCFC Northampton move

I’m really not under-estimating the effect of a sports club moving. The switch to Sixfields had a massive impact on me and my family, and broke a tradition and a feeling which we haven’t really managed to get back. In an ideal world every club would stay close to its roots, and every fan who...

I thought I read somewhere that “SISU” was Joy’s business philosophy and in Finnish meant something like “fight to the bitter end even when everyone thinks you are wrong”. But I just typed it into Google Translate, and quite wonderfully it just said “Go” (To be fair, it offered...

    This club is unique

But now they are doing so for rugby matches, which I don't think people should scoff at. You never know, maybe some of them will take in CCFC v Hartlepool while they're at it?

But it still depended on the bank accepting a huge loss on the loan, which they weren’t going to do and the judge said so. I’ll happily give you £20,000 but it depends on the bank wiping £50,000 off my mortgage to help me out. I’ll ring them in the morning and let you know if you’re in luck...

Grendel, am I right that in replying to Noggin’s “£2.8 million” from 2014, you quoted the £5.5 million from 2012 (which Albatross has correctly scotched) and then jumped back to Wasps in 2014 without blinking an eye? Genuine question, in case I misunderstood.

SBT Tell us what's going on?

Yes - the fact that Fisher has taken the trouble to explain why CCFC don’t want to buy into ACL. If Wasps had made clear that no stake was available, he could simply have said so. Instead, he's saying that it's too risky for CCFC.
