    2 games to go

we are guaranteed to be in it until the last game whatever next week's scores are I believe.

"Confidence players" worry me. We need players who are not affected by how they played the previous week.

Yes, you can lose with 90% possession, with the opposition keeper having a blinder, absolutely no luck if front of goal, with the ref giving absolutely nothing, but everything to the opposition. The next time could be a completely different outcome.

Match Thread Plymouth Argyle - Coventry City Match Thread - Monday 21st Apr

People forget that Leeds' last home game is Bristol. Surely they will want to put in a good performance and win in front of their home crowd on the last game and celebrate promotion with a win.

Bristol don't have a good away record, having only won 4. It doesn't mean much this late in the season but I would prefer our position to theirs. Luton have taken 9 points from the last 6 games and could be out of the bottom 3 with a win tomorrow. Derby have a tough game away to WBA who will...

They're not nailed on wins, I think this "on the beach" thing is a myth. There are lots of unexpected results this late in the season. I wouldn't be surprised to see Norwich put a couple of good performances in after Friday's humiliation.

    3 games to go

Bristol could well be on 67 on the final day with a worse GD than us

It is, we didn't necessarily need an exact replica of O'Hare though.

    3 games to go

We need 1 point to guarantee it goes to the final game. Middlesboro will be on 69 if they were to win their 2 games before we play them. In that case we would be on 67 before the game, and 70 if we win. Only Bristol can better that.

It would be really weird / strange / full circle if it was their near neighbours Sunderland.

    Championship thread 24/25!

Under the circumstances I'm pleased now we don't play until Monday, can't drop any nearer 7th, it takes the pressure off somewhat.

Yes that was my thinking, a Millwall win keeps us a minimum of 2 points ahead of both no matter what our result against Hull, a considerable advantage with 4 games to go.

I wouldn't call it a must win, we can still get to 74 points if we lose, but obviously every point takes us closer.

So many point do you think we need to confirm a play off place ?

The one thing that concerns me is we are the only team in the race where every opponent has something to play for. Even if Plymouth and Luton lose every game between now and when we play them, Plymouth will still have 9 points to play for, and Luton will have 6. (46 points has been enough...

To all those people who questioned why we signed Paterson, here is the answer. Those 2 points could be priceless.

If Collins makes 2 mistakes that lead to goals we should still win

So many point do you think we need to confirm a play off place ?

Well we lost convincingly to Sheff U who have since lost to Oxford and Millwall, we lost to Burnley who have just been held to a draw by Derby. Why do you think that was?

So many point do you think we need to confirm a play off place ?

I think complacency has come into it a bit with us. People in the media have been saying we were nailed on for top 6, whereas teams fighting for their lives have been treating games like cup finals

    Lampard red card

A keeper is nearly always on the goal line unless coming out to claim the ball, in which case the ball has already been played, so I think maybe the linesman was just concentrating on the last defender and mentally ignored the keeper. You can see from post 100 that it's poor defending because...
