Relegation final stretch , who will stay up

My memory may be playing tricks on me, but in England, he’s done nothing since the Boro, how long ago?

Relegation final stretch , who will stay up

Can’t understand why the fans would want McClaren back. Didn’t he have them top of the Championship with about 6 games to go, a big club came in for him, turned his head, and Derby never won another game. Might be a half decent coach, horrendous manager.

    Ben Sheaf future

Yes, £750k for a young, developing midfield player is decent business for us.

Relegation final stretch , who will stay up

I agree. He hasn’t always covered himself in glory, but he has always taken his football seriously, and obviously loves the game. A young English manager trying to make his way in the game. I actually wouldn’t mind Derby getting relegated, but I won’t be glorying in Rooney’s ‘failure’.

    Todays games

Think Rotherham are doing ok. But I wouldn’t want to call it either way, an open game.

    Burge

Although there are some posters who defend players when there is really no defense, I think other posters, myself included, object to the language sometimes used to pillory some of our players.

    Gyökeres

Yep, spot on, I think he’s scored every chance he has had, he’s aggressive, helps with the press, is a handful. I think he’s deserved more minutes.

    Sam Mccallum

Sam has played really well recently, but tonight I thought a lot of the danger from Stoke came down our left side. In fact, I thought both fullbacks were, and are, susceptible to the ball played inside them.

    Marossi

I think you’re spot on here. That injury was a bad one, and I wonder if his confidence has been affected. I think he’s probably slightly the better keeper of the two, and that if he hadn’t had his injury, he would have played every game in goal.

What a difference 90 minutes makes

It’s just the league table, isn’t it?

Just out of interest, I agree that Godden isn’t fit, and shouldn’t be in the team. So, I wouldn’t write Gyokeres off, because I don’t think we’ve seen enough of him to judge. My memory tells me that Gyokeres has had two chances in his substitute performances, and has scored them both. He also...

    Right back/Wing back

Eccles right back for me. Has shown he can defend, and put dangerous crosses in.

I’d start Gyokeres and Walker, no doubt.

One of the biggest games in recent years

I agree that a point would be a decent result, but it worries me that if MR feels the same way, then he’ll go one up top, set up defensively, which hasn’t proved to be successful. If we go two up top, we can press more effectively and stop the other team from playing. I would also go Gyokeres...

    Today’s games

Well, it’s still in our hands, if we get enough points we’ll deservedly stay up, if we get relegated, we’ll deserve that as well. Got to hand it to Rotherham, we will need to show the same determination in our remaining games. Hopefully we’ll do that, starting on Thursday.

    Hamer

I think at home in particular, he’s suffered more than most with the poor pitch. He liked to play a lot of first time balls, give and goes, and as the pitch deteriorated, the accuracy of those passes suffered. Doesn’t explain the loss of form totally, but I don’t think it’s helped.

    Bristol City (H)

One last thought on Saturday’s game. I saw at the end, Shipley come onto the pitch to congratulate the City players, and he was obviously elated with the result (as we all were). He has struggled recently with form/confidence, and it may be that the Championship is a step too far for him. It’s...
