To be fair it was indicated we wouldn't be signing anyone for a significant fee. That still leaves an option of either a loan or a free transfer.

Unless Brau shows in pre-season he's a marked upgrade to Dasilva I also think the same.

I'm unsure whether Dasilva will be moved on. I think he'll be in FL's plans this season. Which means another LB won't be coming in.

Yes, hence the words 'it wouldn't have been much'. But regardless, Palmer moving late on in the summer would've still enabled the club to somewhat mitigate the outlay of Grimes' fee and certainly a significant proportion of his wages in January.

Equally, you can't spend what you don't have. The club hasn't had a significant player sale in two years. At some point outgoings are needed to free up budget to make room for others to come in. That's the cycle which the club adheres to whether you want to believe it or not.

In all fairness to them bigger clubs are coming in for their key players, who will inevitably want to move onto pastures new and test themselves at a higher level, so they're probably not left with much choice. Everton are also looking closely at Cooper, which would be another big loss for them.
