With how we like to play I really wouldn't be putting an RCB in the LCB slot. It's important for build up play to have that someone who's naturally left footed in that position, particularly because it allows for a more seamless and natural progression of the ball down the left side of the pitch.

Difficult when it's a LCB that's departed. Suspect it'll be a dedicated RB that we'll look to bring in.

It's definitely not woeful. But £3.5m reportedly on the initial fee, SC Heerenveen sell on will be at least 10%, possibly more, and his wages throughout his time here means there's not really a great deal of profit upon initial purchase. Then again, if we're receiving all of the fee up front...

See above. I suspect the package will be around £8m hopefully with add-ons on top. Hypothetically if the agreed fee was £6m, then dependent on what the deal looks like I would hope the majority would be paid up front or would be inclusive of significant add-ons / sell-on.
