We were the more attacking team with the most possession, not the better team. We created one clear cut chance which Rudoni scored from. The rest Sunderland coped with comfortably.
Sunderland came with a game plan of being organised, soaking up pressure and relying on the counter attack...
Its all relative. Why micro zoom on to one player when none of them are really good enough. Let's take our top three candidates Rudoni, Wright and MVE.
Rudoni a maybe? Wright and MVE I can see being wanted abroad rather than Premier League. Dovin maybe in 2 or 3 years.
The rest are...
And VAR doesn't make things better. Players get things wrong, managers get things wrong, fans get things wrong. That's football, get over it, stop trying to create a blame culture; if you can't live with it go and watch something else.
We had lots of possession without really creating any clear cut chances.
Sunderland got one chance and were gifted another chance; finished both really well.
I agree it's difficult to just switch back to a positive mindset.
But forrm can change quickly, confidence can comeback quickly. Or you can just get lucky. The better team doesn't always win in football, especially in one off games.
We have 2 Cup Finals, if we are lucky or good enough, maybe three. Form stands for nothing it will be who wants it the most along with the most composure.
A win would be nice. But a draw wouldn't be a disaster. We might get more space in behind at their place. Plus at their place the emphasis is on them.
What I don't want is us going up there with any complacency and thinking the tie is over.
His work rate was superb today and he turned over a lot of ball for us. He won us a lot of possession back in the Middlesbrough half.
Rudoni out scores COH, provides more assists than COH, can take corners and free kicks. Okay COH might buzz around like a kid who has had too many smarties -...
Paul Telfer's work rate was excellent, it didn't make him a great player though. Most of his work rate was avoidable if he had a footballing brain.
Work rate is one thing. Work rate coupled to end product is another level.
Another perspective is BTA was playing with an injury. Recently he has been rested and now come back sharper and capable of a more explosive performance.
You can argue the game was stretched and Middlesbrough had to go for it - but you still have to exploit that situation.
Yes Friday will be...
I think he is in decent shape and a consistent top performer, who is probably Sheffield United's best player this season in the Championship and last season in the Premier League.
He has managed far more games than Ben Sheaf since 2020.
Just remember if we win we are still a long way off the Premier League.
If we lose the world won't end.
Enjoy the day, today is a lot easier than our regular last day relegation battles in top flight.
