But there are no instructions, who’s saying that? It’s their choice, but if they go against all of the medical info, don’t, then end up missing games, weakening the team, that’s a problem.

Same as if a player showed up hungover and ended up missing games through boozing. That’s personal choice too, with consequences.

But they are, unless you genuinely think there is something dodgy in the vaccine? How many fit & healthy sportspeople have have any complications from vaccines? Careers have been shortened & in some cases blown thanks to booze though

No, he was pretty clear that he hopes they get the right information and that they get vaccinated. When personal choices affect people’s ability to do their job, that’s a big problem, no matter what walk of life you’re in
