    Dean Austin position untenable

Makes you think where we’d be this season if we just started Kitch and Dovin and stuck with them.

Personally, I disagree. He set his stall out and a lot of people, whilst disagreeing with the decision, could see his point. Yes because they’re our two top scorers and Lampard favours playing with wingers. The team has got good results but the team looks undercooked imo. Look, the early...

    Dean Austin position untenable

Wright is still our top scorer. In the league Torp and Rudoni are our stop scorers who are available.

    That’s genuinely exciting news!

    Dean Austin position untenable

It’s missing our 3 best players. Haji Wright is still our top scorer and he hasn’t played in 2 months. It could’ve been 4 wins on the bounce with a bit of luck. We didn’t deserve to lose v Norwich and a difficult away draw would’ve been a positive result.

It’ll be 4-6 weeks until everyone is available to us so plenty could change and I’m not worried about what may or may not happen in that timeframe. As a principle, you find ways to accommodate your best players and we won’t do that playing 5-3-2 with everyone available.

Thomas had a great game too today where he absolutely flattened 2 players. ‘Pwopa’ CB play!

This system Lampard has reverted to is probably the best solution we have with the current personnel available. 5-3-2 is a balanced formation, which is what we need in the absence of arguably our 3 best players; Wright, EMC and Sheaf. With everyone available, it’s not the best fit especially...

Not really, we had some poor results playing 5-3-2 this season. Lampard will want to play with wingers, even Rudoni is operating as ‘half-winger’ in the current system and we go to a 5-4-1/3-4-3 when Sakamoto comes on. We won’t know until everyone is back, which will be quite a 4-5 weeks. My...

It’s a fair comment to make, it’s not a good look if Robins goes to Stoke and smashes it.

Time will tell on that front. The back 4 from last season was good enough to finish higher than where we are now.

It was apparent Robins just didn’t know his best team or system. In time, I felt he’d have figured it out eventually, King didn’t and he was closer to things than I. Seeing how he gets on at Stoke will be proof in the pudding of whether or not King was right to sack him. One thing is for sure...

We’ve had a good run using it but it’s doubtful that this team setup is seen as the best long term solution. For starters, you need Haji and EMC in the team. You could maybe get that in 3-4-3 but not in the 5-3-2.

In my opinion, that’ll get the most out of our squad of players. 5-3-2 has served us well but it’s very much a stop gap until our star players return.

It’s all tactics and a style of play. There’s a really nice balance to Torp-Allen-Rudoni that wasn’t there when the CM partnership was a pair of Sheaf-Torp-Eccles or all 3. The way Lampard has setup this 5-3-2 has been fantastic. Rudoni and Torp operating almost as alternating wingers at times...

Transfer Rumour New signing pending - Rabbi Matondo

Publicly, Robins and Lampard both said the same thing that he’s a talented player but just not robust enough for standard we play at. I don’t know what that means exactly. It doesn’t point to him being necessarily unfit, more his body being too fragile to cope. That was my interpretation. Even...

    Transfer Rumour January transfer window

Lati can play RB so it’s not as disastrous as it seems. I don’t believe the transfer policy is one in, one out as people have reported earlier in the window.

Allen is the glue in that midfield 3 atm. He covers a lot of distance, picks up a lot of second balls and is tidy in possession. He hasn’t been flash, it’s been solid all around in his game and compliments Rudoni and Torp nicely.

I’m sure people said that when they signed Will Grigg for £5m in League 1.

    Our Form

It was our home form that got MR sacked. We conceded 11 goals in 6 games and we hadn’t played the better teams at home back then. There has been a material improvement under Lampard and whilst it’s early days at Stoke for MR, it’s not looking positive atm. Lampard hasn’t had Haji available to...
