I’ve got no skin in the game but am grown up enough to accept that Sky pay the big money and therefore have a right to influence when games are played. Personally I prefer 3pm kickoffs for travel reasons but the notion that atmosphere is inherently worse for 12:30 kickoffs is just plain nonsense.

By sterile, I assume you mean lack of atmosphere? I don’t think that stands up, you just don’t like them. The kickoff time is fairly irrelevant to the atmosphere compared with other factors, i.e. how we are playing, the tension (or not) in the game, who the opponents are and even the weather...

FFS, does it matter? Anyone with a half a brain will know it’s not at 3pm. Do you want them to come and switch the TV on for you as well or can you manage that?

Agreed. Also, when was the last time a TV deal was renegotiated/changed within the contract term? There’s also a huge amount of planning and logistics behind the scenes that will have been organised & contracted on the basis of a five year term.

The removal of the blackout might happen eventually but is years away. The EFL have signed up to a long-term deal that helps them maintain the blackout to protect the lower parts of the pyramid and is extremely lucrative for them. Why are they going to step away from that when they’ve got...

The EFL/Sky deal is done. Signed. Sealed. Committed. Fixed. I’m not sure why that is so difficult to grasp. It isn’t going to change until 2029/2030 at the earliest.

No chance. Next season will be the same format as this season. The current 5 year TV deal runs out in 2028/2029 so no significant changes until after that.

Ok, slight exaggeration, but it’s been a long time since the last Championship games of the season were at 3pm (certainly not since we’ve been back in the Championship).

Why would you make travel plans for 3pm when the final game of the season hasn’t been at 3pm in living memory?
