    Championship thread 24/25!

The relevant section from Law 11 as you don’t seem to believe it 2. Offside offence A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched* by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by: gaining an advantage by playing the ball or interfering with...

    Championship thread 24/25!

I don’t need to see the video again as I’ve watched it 10 times in slow motion on Sky as I couldn’t believe it had been allowed.

The scorer is in an offside position the whole time, so is offside. Why do you think he is onside when he is clearly in an offside position throughout?

    Championship thread 24/25!

Read what I said above, I’m not sure how else to explain it. As soon as it hit #20 on the back and bounced through to the striker it is offside, as #20 clearly didn’t deliberately play it. It was a rebound and thus offside (as clearly defined in the Offside law). Re your point on the long...

We’ve only got 2 more months of it [emoji6]

    Championship thread 24/25!

Irrelevant. It was offside at the point it bounced off the back of the #20. A rebound or deflection does not play you onside; it’s only onside if a defender deliberately plays the ball.

It was miles offside but very happy it was allowed.

That was on the billboards when we played them there. Did a double-take, but that’s what it said!

And it has been explained to you in words of one syllable why this isn’t going to happen. So possibly: a) you’re being deliberately perverse b) you don’t understand what a contract is c) you’re thick as mince. My guess is that it is a combination of all three.

So you’ve now moved on from claiming that 12:30 kickoffs are sterile to other reasons for not having them? Goalposts well and truly moved [emoji23].

    Burnley at Home

Possible, but it hasn’t happened much in the Championship in recent years. There are 7 premier league games on the Saturday so TV likely to be saturated with those games.

It looks like you weren’t at the Sheffield Utd or Luton games in October/November. Both 12:30 kickoffs, both cracking atmosphere. And we were floating around just above the relegation zone.

What have I seen the light about? Everything I’ve stated is blindingly obvious. No u-turn at all.

I don’t think it was, but there are many other examples, including Sheffield Utd and Luton this season. And did 12:30 affect the atmosphere at Oxford last week? I don’t think so.

No need to apologise, everybody is entitled to disagree. But interested to know how you would explain the Leicester and Fulham games then? The place was absolutely bouncing. For those who really can’t enjoy football without drinking, I’m sure they are on it during the morning when it’s 12:30...

You’ve just proved my point. If we were 16th it might be shit irrespective of the time. League position is just another factor, like opposition, results, state of the individual game, the weather. Nothing to do with kickoff time. You can rant at Sky as much as you want but it isn’t going to...
