So who realistically are the teams left fighting for 5th and 6th

I wasn’t saying you were, to clarify. However, it’s definitely been said on the terraces though. Many fans certainly believed that Robins would find a way (including myself) and some people I’ve spoken to have even expressed that anything Lampard has done, Robins wouldn’t/couldn’t have done.

I don’t believe the idea that we would’ve magically turned things around under Robins though despite the ‘underlying data metrics’ suggesting so. Lampard hasn’t completely revolutionised the way we play, but the small tactical tweaks have gone a long way!

    Ephron's control touch

We were taking the piss on Saturday… 😂

    Midfield 3

I’d like to see Grimes-Torp-Rudoni at some point but for the next game, you really can’t drop any of the midfielders. The way Lampard plays, he needs a Duracell bunny in the team to cover the huge spaces between the lines that we leave. Allen is the man for this specific role. At some point, we...

    Victor Torp

When we signed him last season, he’d reported for the first week of preseason in the Norwegian football calendar. As Sheaf got injured, he was thrust into the first team prematurely and his body couldn’t hack it. Not many players would in a more physical league with no preseason.

So who realistically are the teams left fighting for 5th and 6th

Their home form is impressive and has been for a long time but even they beat the likes of Sunderland and WBA, it does us no harm because we’re in competition with those teams too. Watford, WBA, Sunderland and PNE are not easy games. Besides, it’s their away form that generally lets them down...

So who realistically are the teams left fighting for 5th and 6th

There’s every chance we could beat Sheff U or Burnley. They’ll obviously be difficult games but we go into the Sheff U game in as the in-form team in the league. I’d be happy with 2 draws but if we score first in either game, I’d back us to win. Last season, we beat Leeds and Leicester but lost...

So who realistically are the teams left fighting for 5th and 6th

If they get more 2 more points than us, fair play to them. Looking at their remaining games, there’s no easy games remaining for them. Bristol don’t tend to travel well and away games at Burnley, QPR, Luton and Leeds… they will drop points.

    Sunderland player ratings

Totally agree, Sakamoto was fantastic. It wasn’t his best game from an attacking perspective but defensively he won every 50:50 and helped the team win the ball high up the pitch. As did Torp and Allen. The selection dilemma we have is where does Rudoni fit in for Sheffield United? Torp has had...

    Best performance of the season

If we play like that against Sheffield United and/or Burnley, we could definitely get another win under our belts. WBA drawing v Hull was a big bonus. For their efforts against Leeds and Burnley away, they may as well have lost both games and beat Hull today. They are so inconsistent, I reckon...

    Jamie allen

If it weren’t for a Haji hattrick, no one could have any complaints with Allen being awarded MOTM. Lampard has used Allen so well tactically and both manager and player deserve the plaudits.

Da Silva has been underrated in his last few appearances. I wouldn’t want him playing against a PNE type team but against Sheff U and Burnley, he helps with keeping possession and even used his body well in defence. Bidwell was shite against Oxford and Derby despite him being first choice in my...

    Best performance of the season

Exactly this. Allen isn’t a spectacular defender but his energy in midfield means he often doesn’t need to be because he’s just always on hand to pick up a loose ball or pressure an opposition player into making a defender. Today, however, he won many balls and was fantastic.

You definitely need cracking role players and imo, Allen really encapsulates this. He played so well in the 5-3-2 games and was replaced for Grimes and whenever you write him off, he just finds ways to add value that make you change your opinion.

    Best performance of the season

In my view, it wasn’t down to complacency. At Derby, it was conceding the first goal that made the game unnecessarily difficult. As good as we were today, we looked slick at Derby away until we conceded the goal. The way we leave the lines so open, it was my view that Allen would complement...

Jobe Bellingham played today? 😂 Joking aside, I fancied us to win because we’re at home and we’ve been faultless under Lampard barring a home loss v Leeds. I fancy us to pick up points in all our remaining home games.

It was the opposite, we completely penned them in and frankly absolutely dominated them. Great call!

Allen in for Eccles was such a consequential change, the amount of distance he covers is so important and an upgrade on Eccles in terms of the tactics. I’ve been guilty of writing him off and whilst I think we need ‘better’, he deserves his contract extension and has been so influential. He’s a...

    Best performance of the season

Best performance we’ve put in for a good 2-3 seasons in my view. Too many people panicked after Derby away. All we needed was a bit more legs in midfield and Allen provided that. Allen, Torp and Sakamoto won every 50/50 in the midfield. Haji Wright is the obvious MOTM because his hattrick was...
