I agree it's a bit pedestrian. Thing is we haven't just overhauled the majority of personnel, but have totally switched up our style of play as well. That takes time, especially when you have key players missing. This was always a transition season in my eyes.

Really don't think we've been as bad as most are making out. Little lacking cohesion in the final third. Ayari needs to do more to link it & the decision making in the wide areas hasn't been perfect. Simms' one touch stuff is really good, it's when he wants to control it himself he struggles...

He gets far more stick than he deserves but it's not unfair to say his first touch needs work that's for sure.

An Academy graduate has the 2nd most minutes played of any of our outfield players. It's not that MR is adverse to using players from the Academy but, due to the rapid progress we've made, it's been left behind somewhat. Work is being done to try & address it but for reasons outlined by others...

With Phillips it's because he's still probably the best we have in that role. The City move obviously hasn't worked out but they're the best team in the world, he'd get in practically every other PL team. Maguire is a trusted favourite of Southgate.
