Correct, but did it lead to a goal? No. When taking the Plymouth game into account, it was definitely a game where the individual errors were more costly than the tactics. It all goes out the window when you go 1-0 down too because you need to attack more.

It’s not the same thing and you know it. The inference was that the defensive high line was being exploited. If a defender gives the ball away on the halfway line, you’re going to be in trouble in most cases.

Haji and Simms, there hasn’t been a consistent supply of high quality chances for a while now. Haji should’ve scored v Hull and Plymouth but looking at that 22/23 side, the amount of ‘big chances’ Vik missed, he had 2-3 times in a game to redeem himself. Rudoni is the player most willing to...

The high line didn’t cause a goal for any of the goals v Plymouth. It was two set pieces we didn’t deal with and MVE giving the ball away high up the pitch that caused those goals. The red card, it was a bad decision and JDS was on the wrong side of him. It’s not necessarily tactical but...

To clarify, when you say system, do you mean formation? Something Robins said after Sheff W (iirc - it was after a home loss) that stuck with me about this team was that they took too many ‘easy routes’ on the ball. Things have generally improved under Lampard, but Plymouth and Hull were...

We struggled v Luton because we played with 10 men for most of it. Even when Walsh gets red carded, it’s still 50-odd minutes of defending that’s tiring. Looking at the bench, there were no game changers there, maybe BTA. But when you’re defending set pieces as often as we were, you wouldn’t...

We’ve dropped points in 4 home league games; Cardiff, Millwall, Leeds and Burnley. Looking at the games we’ve won; Watford, Bristol City, Sunderland, WBA, QPR who were all in and around us when we beat them shows just how much we deserve to be where we are. We’ve won every 6 pointer at home and...

I’ve been guilty of this, but we’ve underestimated just how difficult playing Hull, Luton, Plymouth and Derby would be in the last stretch. The latter 3 teams are in 6-9th in the form table at the minute. We all knew Sheff U was probably going to be a write off. To only pick up 1 point from...

I empathise with Lampard because neither Wilson nor Collins is a good choice. It does baffle me that they’ve extended Wilson’s contract if he’s not going to play. Going into to the summer, the recruitment team know they need to get a new keeper in because it’s not acceptable that Dovin’s injury...

To add to your point, if you take out all of our wins under Lampard, we have won 0 wins and that is relegation form. #LampardOut

Which ignores the season before when Collins was first choice over Wilson.

Lets look on the bright side

The teams around us have had inept performances. Weeks back, the Opta ‘super computers’ believed 68-70 points would be enough for playoffs and they were correct. The bottom teams all being on close to 50 points is ridiculously high and showcases just how difficult this league is.

For a team in 6th place, we really do concede some goals that are just amateurish. In the top half, only Sheffield Wednesday have conceded more goals than us and we’ve even conceded more goals than Derby, Hull and PNE. We need investment in that area of the pitch. If we can concede 10-15 less...

We said this last season. The relegated teams will always outspend the rest.

Tin foil hat moment but that many refereeing decisions have gone against us, I’m starting to believe there’s a cabal of ref’s screwing us over.

On point 1, there were games where we played 5-3-2 that we were really open. It’s tactical decision from the management because we try to win the ball high up and when it works well, we look quality as we did v Sunderland and WBA. It’s the opposite of Robins, where he wanted to be more cautious...

They’re also the in form team in the league and unbeaten at home all season. Millwall’s form has been based on strong home performances. They beat Sheff U and Watford away fairly recently but have lost to Blackburn, Plymouth, Leeds and Sunderland.

    1 game to go

I’ll be happy when we’re 1-0 up in the last 10 minutes with both Sheff U and Burnley winning at the same time. Then I’ll be relaxed about conceding an equaliser.

    1) formation - there’s nothing inherently wrong with it. The issue is tactically because we leave a lot of gaps between the lines. Today, we were a lot closed and didn’t give away any real clear cut chances with 10 men. 2) Goalkeeper - agreed on Collins but Wilson is ranked in the bottom 10 or...

It irritates me when people say ‘it’s 100% ‘Player X’s’ fault because every goal has 2-3 errors that leads up to it. Collins made a huge unforced error but anyone who’s rewatched the goal cannot tell me that Binks couldn’t have cleared the ball.
