Match Thread Coventry City - Preston North End FC Match Thread - Saturday 22nd Feb

We were absolutely in control, and it's EMC's first game back, so it's understandable.

Jesus fucking Christ. That was significantly more nervy than it should have been.

Spotting fellow Cov fans in the wild

Not Olympics, but: The nearest you'll see crap people come up against the world class in sport is in cricket, where you can have someone like Phil Tufnell has to come out to face the likes of Curtley Ambrose.

    Replays of incidents

Here's were Simms was a split second after the keeper dropped his clanger. Then here's when he challenges for the ball: Can't believe Hackett's saying there's anything wrong here. Those stills are from the highlights Wednesday posted; there's not one comment complaining about the goal...

    Replays of incidents

He got two hand on it and then dropped it; Simms wasn't really near him, but I assumed that the keeper had half of his mind on Simms so didn't execute the take properly. It was fully dreadful goalkeeping, and absolute howler. He wasn't under pressure until he'd cocked up, and by then, it was...

    Replays of incidents

The guy just dropped it. Then Simms challenged for the loose ball. There's zero controversy with this goal. Disallowed one, whilst the keeper didn't have any control of the ball, I guess the ref thought it dangerous to slide in. I don't agree it should have been disallowed, but I understand...

    Championship thread 24/25!

Birmingham City have a massive chip.on their shoulder due to the fact they're a distant second in their own city. Tbf, we have a similar chip about Villa, albeit much smaller, and it's lessened as we haven't played them for so long.

Or more honestly: 'this post eloquently addresses everything I've said, I have no real answer to it, so I'm going to claim I'm too lazy to have read it'. You're not covering yourself with glory here, chuck.

    Cov v Stoke

Which makes your aversion to Robins (which hasn't been confined to the downturn in results this year) all the stranger. Thinking he 'deserved to be sacked' but overall did an incredible job worthy of warm reception on his return aren't necessarily mutually exclusive standpoints, either. I'd...

You flatter him. He didn't get close enough to anything to be able drop it.

Twice a season usually. I always hope we hammer them. I always hope we hammer everybody.

    Tavares

Possibly landing (although he didn't land heavily); he seemed to limp when celebrating. He has had awful luck with the timing of his injuries.

    Cov v Stoke

I mean, do you not hope that every game?

    Cov v Stoke

No, but then you do have a bit of a weird aversion to Robins. I dunno, perhaps you enjoyed supporting a team pissing around the arse-end of League 1 more. Which would be fair enough; it takes all sorts to make a world after all.

He doesn't say that at all. He says they were inconsistent decisions. That's bollocks too: one was sliding in with studs, the other was shoulder to shoulder. We were unlucky with the first, but I get the ref's thinking, even if I don't really agree. There was never any question of not giving...

    The dom hyam sale

Regardless of what you think of him as a player, he went because SISU were desperate for cash. It had nothing to do with his qualities, other than he had enough of them to command a fee.

    The dom hyam sale

By some. And under-rated by others. He's a very competent Championship centre-half.

It's weird to even give it thought, tbh.

Rubbish. The cup-run kiboshed our league form, but we were still right in the hunt up until the last month or so. The view that the second half of last season was poor is nonsense. It wasn't, it just fizzled out for reasons that are understandable.
