    Lampard

That was a very fair point about wanting to install his tactics, and may go some to explain his perceived rigidity.

Lets look on the bright side

Doesn't he always come against Luton? Sure the league game when he first came was that 1-1 when Godden scored for us. Then the play-off final (which was also a draw, though the ultimate outcome was a loss). You'd think he'd want to see us play someone else. A penchant for watching us struggle...

    Lampard

I've always seen that as a continental trait. Dovin's incredibly young for a keeper, and has come from a much less demanding league. I'd expect this kind of thing to improve with him relatively quickly. A good keeper knows when to punch and when to catch.

    Final games of old

I remember that (and the pitch invasion), but I don't thunk it was nothing to play for. I recall us having to match Man City's result. They went 2 nil down to someone (Liverpool?), and brought it back to 2-2, and everyone was very worried. That's how it stayed, though, and we stayed up. Found...

    Lampard

Give over. You can't discount a series of results on a whim. Either take it as a whole, or not at all (as above, I think it's too small a sample size to really make a firm assessment).

    Lampard

Re: injuries. A couple of them have been freak ones due to collisions on the pitch. That's nothing to do with anyone's planning or player management.

    Lampard

And that's not a large enough number of games to really guage the possibility of long-term success by results alone. There have been some very positive aspects and improvement in individual performances (Rudoni, for example, looks a different player under Lampard). There have also been more...

But that's the thing; when he's playing so badly in all other aspects of his game, you have to have the pragmatism to tweak the style. Yes, he can ping a decent long pass, but that shouldn't be the attribute you are picking you goalie on.

    Brad Collins

He made a couple of decent saves, and one very good one. But that counts for nothing when you are not able to judge when it's appropriate to come and when it is not. This is also an issue with him, not just that his save percentage is low.

    Outcomes required for Playoffs

At this moment in time, no, but come kick off next weekend, obviously I will. Over the course of the season, though, I do not believe we have been good enough for a play off place.

    Brad Collins

We weren't. We were facing 11 against 10 for most of the game against a team whose main tactic was to sling the ball in the box. Despite the pressure, they never really looked like benefiting from that.

Also hanging your own players out to dry in public is not good management.

It was never a straight red, but it was a yellow, and he was already on one.

And then he had an enormous brain fart, because even when he's not out of form, his reading of the game is poor.

Same. I'd also agree with you more generally if Collins' form wasn't quite *so* wretched, but as it is, I think you have to take him out of the firing line.

I always said that I'd judge him on next season, regardless of what happens this, that remains true. This is Robins' team, not Lampard's. At the moment, after the last few weeks, I am still unsure whether long-term he will turn out to be a success. Are you not slightly concerned about the...

To be honest, I don't care. We are nowhere close to the level required to be in the playoffs, let alone be promoted. We're only in the frame because not enough other teams are either. How many times have we looked a genuinely good side this season?

He had a run of results where we came out the right side of marginal games. Other than that, I am beginning to be unsure.
