In my original post, I did say that it wasn't directed at you.
It's something that has irritated me for a while and your post - which was by no means the worst offender - just happened to pop up when I had time to post.
SIRI, SIRI.......
You can get a view of what the people who are exercised enough to post on a given subject say.
I don't believe that you can then validly extrapolate that small and self-selecting sample into "everybody said".
Bugger - I said I was just going to shout at the computer.....
Even if you're right that about 80 - 85% of people who posted on that thread "were not happy", I really don't see that that translates to a "general view" that "he was shit". Still a small number of posters out of the multitude that visit here - and it seems to be the case that negative...
I may well be mis-remembering, but I thought that people were pretty excited by the signing of Clarke.
As for Stokes what percentage of people on this site would you reckon posted that when he signed he was shit because he was ........ was a forest green rovers reject? Was it above 90%, or was...
With the help of Wiki - top half finishes since 1970:
69/70, 70/71,
77/78, 78/79,
86/87, 87/88, 88/89,
93/94,
01/02,
03/04,
06/07
So 11 in 45 years - and too many of those were 10th out of 20, 11th out of 22 etc
Not a sparkling record!
The current run is obviously very poor and the fall away in form has been more than disappointing.
However, as has been discussed on other threads, sacking the manager and appointing a new one is not exactly a guarantee of success.
I was very pleased when we appointed TM, as he has always...
Which was sort of my point.
Reading some of the above comments - and those on other threads - we seem to have gone from "Messiah" to "Idiot". The former was always over the top and the latter is too.
On a wider note, I struggle to remember too many times when a Cov manager has changed the game...
So using your logic, the reason for our fall down the divisions is that we have not been sacking managers frequently enough.
So, another 5 sackings would have seen us steady in the Championship, 10 would have us in the promised land of the Premier League and with 20, we'd be parading the...
On the Album of the Soundtrack of the Trailer of the Film of Monty Python and the Holy Grail there's a great sketch about invalid logic.
Might be worth a listen
How many seasons can you remember where you haven't been studying the bottom of the table and working out how many points we need to stay clear?
Seems like a miracle to me!
I understand your views on Thorn, but he did end the run under Bothroyd that was much worse than our current run and had us heading towards relegation.
Another case though where the improvement from a sacking was short lived. Unless we try sacking managers on a monthly basis to try to get a...
