    Hull crowd

Couldn’t agree more. The fact that we can’t get 20,000 home fans to attend on a regular basis in the top half of the Championship us awful. The apathy around the city of Coventry towards the football club is shocking - but just watch if we still have a chance to get in the playoffs in mid April...

    1980/81 - Coventry v West Ham (League Cup Semi 1st Leg - 27.1.81

I was there that night too. Arrived about an hour before KO and ended up in a really scary crush outside the turnstiles, of which there weren’t many. IIRC the police had no choice but to open the gates as they were being forced open by the sheer weight of numbers outside. Very lucky not to have...

    Vic. Over or Under?

Yes he scored the winner in a 1-0 win at Highbury in 1983. Got well and truly drenched stood on the open Clock End but it was worth it.

    1980/81 - Coventry v West Ham (League Cup Semi 1st Leg - 27.1.81

Agreed. We had c10,000 @ West Ham but less than a fifth of that at Spurs, where we were awful. Heard so many stories about that night at West Ham - I was there - it was probably the most scared I gave ever been at a match but I was only 16. Have hated the media ‘love in’ for them ever since...

I think I need to watch him more closely then in the next few matches. To me he always seems to be getting rid of the ball ASAP even if that means putting the defenders immediately under pressure because the opposition have players close to them, or aimless punts upfield or out of play. I want...

Big C scored against us that day with a goal very similar to the one he scored for us at Hillsborough in the QF.

Was that not the cup game when we lost 2-0? Was at both matches and the 7-1 was a shocker as we had a really good team that season.

I don’t disagree but at this moment in time, if Everton are interested(?) then we would be stupid not to accept an offer of c£20m, which was my original point. The longer we have him the less he is worth to us. If we are offered that in the next few days and don’t accept ‘he could injured or...

Yes if the agent can see even bigger £££ for himself in 12 months on a free transfer. If someone offers £20m in the next few days I think Vik will be gone; if they don’t why wouldn’t he just continue to do what he is doing, increase his ‘real’ value and go for nothing in Summer 24?
  12. W

    Gyokores

What? So his agent isn’t in his ear saying Vik let your contract run down with Cov and I can get you a £x million signing on fee plus £xK per week in salary?
  13. W

    Gyokores

Will it really be there in the summer? One year left on his contract? What’s to stop him running it down and we get nothing? Don’t get me wrong I don’t want him to go but if Everton are desperate and are willing to pay c£20m for him it’s a no brainer surely?

    Gyokores

He could get seriously injured tomorrow and what would we do then? No player and no cash. Take the money now if it’s on offer.
  15. W

    Gyokores

Yes you have - unfortunately. Would be a record fee received by us and we need the cash regardless of what DK can bring. Can’t deny Vik the opportunity to better himself and we could lose him for nothing very soon anyway. It’s business and it’s what we’ve always done, unfortunately.

He was but he was very effective too. Still remember that Lincoln match well ( very disappointed to lose to them with their vocal fans combined with the Cowleys’ antics that evening - also by our abysmal support which at that time was one of our most important games for years, to be which...

    WBA (Away)

Before that I recall we played and won 1-0 (Stuart Pearce penalty) at already relegated Stoke on a Friday night back in May 85 before beating Luton and Everton to stay up. I was one of the few hundred who travelled up more in hope than expectation in a crowd of less than 7,000.
