    Merry Xmas everyone 🎅🏻

Happy Christmas to all Sky Blues fans from the People’s Republic of Northumberland!

    Todd Kane

Based on the game at Huddersfield, I think you start with Kane and Maatsen in the wingback positions, with Dabo on the bench. Kane was exceptional, particularly in the first half, and I thought Maatsen’s cameo was very good. He looked good going forward, and brought composure to that left flank...

    Every ground...

Yeh, the **** is a shithole is embarrassing, and is ironic. Remember going to Rochdale a few seasons ago, and the morons singing ’Rochdale’s a shithole’, and the Rochdale fans singing back ‘Rochdale’s a shit hole, we already know….’ Good on them, I thought, but a bit sad.

It’s a side with better balance, manager’s choice to play Dabo instead of Maatsen, that’s ok. Not sure about Godden up front, probably would have gone with Gyokeres. Looks like we’re looking not to lose, perhaps snatch a 1-0.

    Robbie Savage

Yeh, Jordan Clarke. And yeh, journey man player and a poor pundit. Part of the dumbing down of the BBC, where pundits like Savage and Micah Richards spend their time being laddish and laughing hilariously at their own jokes. Can’t listen to them, to be honest.

    Hey - what’s wrong with Northern outposts???😂

    Id drop Gyok

I wouldn’t drop Gyokeres, he’s the only one who can hold the ball up (in the absence of Waghorn - and what’s the score with him?), and I didn’t think he did to badly yesterday, even if his shooting boots were absent.

    Id drop Gyok

I think the point that’s being made about Dabo, is that he’s not a centre half, not that he’s not a good player. And to be fair, he was very poor for that first goal, a total lack of appreciation of what was happening. The argument primarily being made about Dabo is that it appears that come...

    Match Thread WBA (h) - 12:30 - Sat 4th - on Sky

I was watching on Sky which did show the play developing from behind our defence. I posted earlier that Dabo was indeed on his heels, his whole body language was wrong, just not engaged, switched off and allowing their player to run across him and through the middle. Dabo just didn’t respond to...

The back 5 at the moment should pick themselves : Maatsen, Hyam, McFadz, Rose, Kane. Dabo on the bench. We were unbalanced today due to the set up. Many managers seem to be very stubborn, I just hope Robins and Viveash have a good look at it and at least play players in their right positions.

Do you think so? He certainly didn’t hide, constantly demanded the ball and kept running at their defence. I may be wrong, but I can’t remember him having any chances over the last few games, a result of us not creating clear cut chances despite good approach play.

Yep, agree with the point around the selection of Dabo at centre back, seemed a strange decision, not to be repeated, I hope. As for the handball, VAR would definitely have disallowed it.

    Match Thread WBA (h) - 12:30 - Sat 4th - on Sky

Alan Smith (on Sky) mentioned that we were the ‘nearly men’ as we got into so many good positions but the final ball let us down. This is spot on, our approach play is excellent until that final pass - prime example being O’Hare playing the ball 5 yards in front of Godden, when he should have...

    Match Thread WBA (h) - 12:30 - Sat 4th - on Sky

If you look at that first goal (from the Sky coverage), as the play developed, you can see that Dabo is on his heels, and just doesn’t seem to be engaged in the play, looks like he’s totally switched off. To me, we need to play the 3 centre backs as a 3, with Kane and Maatsen in the wing back...

    West brom attendance

Geography and history definitely plays a part as the post relating to Ipswich states. Norwich, a club we are some times compared with in terms of size, are another good example. Their nearest competition is Ipswich, 40 miles to the south, so you have to get to Diss, 20 miles southof Norwich...

You’re right, given his age, but he’s not being given the game time to show what he can do. Not saying he should be a starter, just that it’s difficult to judge him.
