    Shamima Begum

I find the lines disturbing/confusing. She can be stripped of her citizenship (whist being born here and her family is here) but convicted murderers, rapists, serious criminals etc (who weren't born here and were awarded citizenship- in some cases don't even have citizenship) can't be deported...

It's just a different game now. 21 for 3 having been put in day one of an overseas Test. No problem keep attacking and close the day 315 for 3. Brook on course to be quickest Test batsman to 1000 test runs. Noone has done it all in overseas Tests?

Well there's 3 namechecks there that I have no idea who they are :) But seriously reducing it to film characters etc. is at best tasteless. People are dying in large numbers on both sides it's not an issue for frivolity.

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Threat is a relative term. Enough of a threat to provoke Sweden & Finland to join NATO. The likes of Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Kazakstan, Tajikistan and a few other -stans have all expressed fears for their security from Russia in recent years. Putin has consistently over the last 10 years...

He had a pop at David Pleat when he called us a small provincial club that played above themselves.

    USSR invades Ukraine.

From a Ukrainian point of view the Russian land grabs made them fearful of further land grabs. NATO was seen by the Ukrainian people as the only security that could have against this. The same reason other former Soviet bloc states joined in the first place. They didn't join to be closer to the...

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Problem is (going back a long way before NATO membership was even considered) that Putin does not see Ukraine as a sovereign state. The annexation of Crimea and involvement in Donbas & Luhansk in 2014 emphasizes this. Prior to these 2 events there was little appetite for NATO membership in...

Incredible achievement for a 40 year old particularly as he's an opening quick(ish) bowler. One of the greats who still on his day is an absolute pleasure to watch.

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

It's stretching it to call it a union of nations. It's a pragmatic coalition primarily based on economic necessity and it's popularity amongst member populations is founded on that. There's significant opposition in many member states to much of the non-economic stuff ég social policies...

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Again it just has the feel of sabre rattling and posturing. China is publically pushing a peaceful solution based on territorial integrity but would it follow that up by arming the Russians? On from this maybe China believes the suggestion of backing Russia might force participants to look more...

    USSR invades Ukraine.

It was blinken in Dec 2021 and Jan 2022 who said Russia was about to invade Ukraine despite Russian denials. Reasonable to assume America has intelligence assets at reasonably high levels in both Russia and China.(as they do in America). The caveat obviously is what types of military support...

    USSR invades Ukraine.

American "intelligence" has been pretty accurate since before the war started. There's no secrets about which countries are buying oil directly and few secrets about those still buying through the likes of Turkey. But there's a clear separation between trade and providing military assistance.

Just poking the Americans. Buden's impromptu visit to Kiev seems to be a response to Wang Yi's visit to Moscow.

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Maybe sabre rattling over these balloon incidents. Also claim they have a new peace plan that they have put to various western govts already. So adding arms whilst pushing a peace plan would seem to undermine said peace plan.

Rugby a mess. Leicester (Supposed biggest club in English rugby) needs a 13 million owners cash injection to stave off admin apparently. Supposedly loss of 2 home games made all the difference 🤫
