    2023-24 New Kit Thread

If it's not Rudge-Whitworth this season, then I'm not buying a shirt... 😄

    Henley in Arden Training Centre

The way I'm reading this, is that in effect Blues are taking over the Henley-in-Arden training place. I guess what's left of Wasps might be able to use a bit of it, maybe rent a pitch on Thursday nights or something, but it suggests that another part of their mad fever dream has bitten the dust.

    Cov city centre

I think I got the basic idea, mate. 😁 The fact is, as good as some of these spots are, it still feels like patchwork to me, and has done for a very long time. Like I say, it's opinions, I'd love the city centre to thrive again, but I'm not sure there's a genuine architectural vision there of...

And when might these plans come to fruition? I've been hearing this for 30 odd years, please forgive my cynicism!

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

That's a fair point, but PMQs always seems like the most embarrassing part of UK politics these days. The committee hearings tend to draw more facts out, but we deserve better from all of our politicians than the braying, pointless, shite, that passes for parliamentary debate these days...

Times must still be hard, if he's fixing it with sellotape. That's like one of my DIY bodges. 😄

    Cov city centre

The precinct was a brilliant piece of post-war planning, and personally I don't think many of the subsequent "improvements" ever added to it. The escalator, in particular, was an abomination, again imho.

    Cov city centre

That bit might be ok, though it's already got a bit of a "concrete wasteland" feel to it to me, but most of the stuff north of there is a mess, imho. I don't see any vision or drive in the council or the planners, other than for pushing through substantial housing developments (without any...

    Cov city centre

It's all opinions, of course, but mine is that the city centre is an architectural monstrosity that started to go wrong at the point they put that ridiculous escalator through the middle of the upper precinct. From that day onwards it just went further backwards, at least in appearance, with the...

And they say we can't trust AI. It's clearly got you pegged as a potential left wing troublemaker mate. Watch out. It's probably the same algorithm that New-new Labour are using... 😁

    Ashes 2023

Fair point, but it's not just catches, we've got to be able to bat a bit too.... And we've just thrown away another wicket to an obvious trap. Brainless.

    Ashes 2023

Especially given he'll be walking out before half-eleven. 😁 I jest, I think, though it's hard to know how England are going to play these days. Bring back Chris Tavare, that's what I say. Happy to see Woakes and Wood back in the side, I think they've both got something to offer depending on...

You Know You're Getting Old When........

Robbing bastards. Might be worth trying one of the smaller garages or even one of the quick fit places. Any half decent mechanic should be able to identify a significant suspension issue pretty quickly... Springs, shocks, bearings, or bushes, basically, imho. A ramp, a torch, and a big lever...

You Know You're Getting Old When........

If only that would work on the better half when I'm driving. 😁 If you'd told me when I was twenty, that one day I'd enjoy driving nice and steadily, in a comfy automatic, with the radio off, I'd have thought you were mad. 😄

You Know You're Getting Old When........

I remember them on the small portables, for sure. I'm sure the black plastic channel knobs on our old TV could be tuned in individually - what we'd call "user configurable", these days... 😁

And the only way to change them was by physically pushing the button on the TV (assuming you'd got 50p for the meter on the back. Two words, "Radio Rentals"!) And your Dad got you to work as the 'remote', because he wanted to kip on the sofa after dinner (which was actually called 'tea').

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I'm not a big one for conspiracy theories, but I'm fairly confident that Russia was very keen to support anyone and anything that was behind Brexit. Boris's trip to Italy, where he ditched his official security, was hugely suspicious and wildly inappropriate for any member of Government. If...
