What didn’t you like about his character as a player ? He was Hugely successful, loyal to Chelsea, incredibly hard working, respected by his peers and various world class managers, and made the headlines on the back of the papers not the front.

I think we have to be top tier from an academy perspective or consider closing them which would be very sad. They only make economic sense if you can unearth the odd jewel and retain them to become pro’s. Developing 100’s of boys to lose the jewels at 15 ifor minor compensation isn’t sustainable.

I think you are ignoring the fact that we have been playing without our best flair players and for the most part our best central midfielders ( Sheaf and Grimes). I suspect our style will improve as the season progresses, but whether that improves results is difficult to forecast.
