    Allotment/Veg patch

The only things that we put directly in the ground are potatoes and onion sets. Everything else we start in pots in the greenhouses. Peppers and tomatoes are 'chitted' on damp paper first. If you have the space on your plot, I recommend Alderman peas. They grow tall (up to 8' if you let them) so...

Look up the definition of profiteering. It's not the same as making a profit.

    Supermarket shortages

I'm very late with stuff this year - the soil down here is still too cold and saturated. Only just laid out my spuds for chitting. I'll try to get broad beans started in the greenhouse in the next week or so. My wife has started 'chitting' the peppers and chillis. Much too early to think about...

    Supermarket shortages

We've grown nasturtiums for a few years. They self-seed so well that it's a lot of work to get rid of the majority of new plants.

    Supermarket shortages

We save seed from Runner, French & Black beans, peas, tomatoes, sweet and chilli peppers. The rest of our seed we buy in from a good supplier on eBay.

    Supermarket shortages

We've been growing our own veg since we moved into the village 20+ years ago. Fortunately we have a big garden, but to be honest it's getting too much for me to handle nowadays. But I'll carry on for as long as I can even if it means cutting down on the amount grown.

    Death in Links Road

I've just read the newspaper article in that link, Otis. At the bottom is a breakdown of crimes reported in January for my postcode (how they know my postcode is another matter). The number of reported crimes is nonsense. My postcode is just one street in our small Dorset village. We don't have...

I shop in Tesco. All the empty shelves remind me of shopping in Moscow during the '80s and '90s.

    Supermarket shortages

The stuff that we buy in Lidl is fine. The only complaint that I have is that under normal circumstances (not during the panic buying frenzy) there is no guarantee that the stuff we want is in stock. It's pretty hit and miss, but maybe that's just in our local branch.

What's a flat white? All these strange names for coffee in a coffee shop confuse me. I just want a cup of coffee like I have at home - strong coffee with a bit of milk in. What should I ask for?

Great win; anither 3 points in the bag. It does my blood pressure no good at all when we play most of the game with a one goal lead!
