When taxis gather in mock Solemnity

Wondered how long it would take you to pipe up on the taxi threads. Didn't think it would be this early to be fair.

Sure, but the whole team could get ACLs tomorrow. I'm not disagreeing with anyone - it's a shitter situation than we'd like, replacing Gus.

Agree with everything you've said. And I'm not sure what their plan was. But they way some on here are going on, you'd think they didn't have a plan. I'm sure they did/have. It might not be working yet but they'll have thought about the departure of Gus, before he went.

Well not really - rough maths suggests we've 'potentially' got more to spend. Signing Kitching didn't necessarily stop us from signing a Gus replacement. If you think MR/AV etc would've thought that they had to choose between signing Kitching or a Gus replacement, you're a bit of a loon...

Yeah but they're separate points. You mentioned the defender from Barnsley. I totally agree that a Gus replace was essential - like I've said, I'm angry he decided to leave the day before the window was closed. I'm angry that we didn't get a replacement.

Maybe there was a bit of a long-term succession planning thing with Kitching and Fadz in the twilight of his career. That signing makes sense.

Yeah, I get that but perhaps we didn't think there was a suitable like for like replacement? MR and his team I'm sure were pee'd off when Gus went at the 11th hour with nothing lined up. We don't know if Gus had said he was going to stay. Either way, the squad we have 'should' be good enough...

I mean to be fair, two days before the end of the transfer window, the majority were saying it was a great window. We all seemed excited by the players we brought in. Of the 11 who left, a number were dross who wouldn't get into the first team. Losing Gus and seemingly not having someone lined...

Transfer Rumour Who gives the OK?

We're still relatively early in their Sky Blue careers. I'm confident the majority will be successful. As for signings, I'm pretty sure Evos post (2nd on this thread) is spot on.

It makes me angry that Gus left things to the last minute with his contract and decided not to sign it. Sheff Utd played a good game with the transfer. By the same token, I'm surprised we didn't have a potential replacement lined up, 'should' Gus go. Maybe there just wasn't one that MR fancied...

We only lost two of the next 14 after that. Like I said earlier, hopefully this is a galvanizing result.

And with Kitching - too early to question him really. He came on during a shit performance, away from home, shit conditions, first game for us. Let's give him a few more games before writing him off.

It was always going to be tough when you lose your two best players with a combined 50 goals/assists.

I've always thought Allens been a good player. Always one of those consistent 7/10s and last season, added more goals to his game. Looked like he's carrying more timber but understandable. Nice to see him back.

Not great. Needed to be more clinical at 1-1. Hope this has some sort of galvanizing effect going forward. Would start Simms, Ayari and Allen next game instead of Wright, Palmer and Eccles.
