Match Thread Coventry City vs Leeds United - Match Thread - Weds 5th Feb 7.45pm KO

Context is everything Joe. We don’t give up as many chances in the second half if we’re not chasing the game. At that point, it was more important to score the next goal even if it risked conceding a goal or 2 more. To the topic of formation, our defence since Lampard took over had ‘improved’...

What else could we do being 2-0 down in the second half against a team that could keep the ball all day long. I’m glad we had a go at them and it’s a shame we didn’t make them work for their first half goals. Even so, if Simms header creeps in or that chance that hits the crossbar goes in, we...

This is a bit of a trope now. We kept 3 clean sheets playing 4-2-3-1 under Lampard and he’s changed nearly half the starting 11. If it was the exact same personnel in a new formation, I’d get the argument but it’s not.

Match Thread Leeds United - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 28th Sep

My view on the game is that it was a frustrating day at the office. You can’t give 2 goals away and 2-4 big chances and expect to get a result against a quality outfit. Keeping things in perspective, Leeds shouldn’t not be in this division, they are by far the best team in the division. There...

The mistakes were frustrating, but we created some excellent chances and on another day, things pan out differently. We certainly weren’t terrible.

    Where does Norman fit?

I’m not arguing to instantly make the changes because not all the players will be back at the same time. Observing the way we play, the 5-3-2 only really suits the personnel who starts the game. Torp and Rudoni have played really well because they can get so high up the pitch and they can only...

    Where does Norman fit?

It’s not changing things for the sake of it if the manager has a strategy that revolves around playing with wingers. 5-3-2 is a temporary solution until we have a full team available.

    Where does Norman fit?

Why change it? It isn’t our best team. We’ve played 6 games using 5-3-2 under Lampard, if you’re consistent with your opinion on EMC, it’s only been a few games and the fall could be just as quick as the rise if we rest on our laurels. To parrot one of Lampard’s famous phrases: “there isn’t a...

    Where does Norman fit?

Are we talking about the same BTA and Simms who scored 32 goals between them playing as a lone striker last season?

    Where does Norman fit?

If we play with wingers Haji will surely be asked to play out wide and he can’t cover 2 positions simultaneously. We had to change formation in the first place because 2 wingers got injured in the space of a week in the Xmas-NY period. I’m pretty sure Vik was brought in to be 3rd or 4th choice...

    Where does Norman fit?

Bassette will be a good player with the right coaching. Right now, he’s not at the level of BTA or Simms who are accomplished Championship players and well versed to English football. In reality, he’s a rookie who needs to work hard in training and take his chances when he’s given them. I don’t...

    Preferred Team and System

Why is it just the formation that’s getting the results? In my opinion, the personnel changes have been more significant than changing from 4-2-3-1 to 5-3-2. When we played 4-2-3-1 the starting XI was something like: Collins/Dovin MVE Lati Thomas Bidwell Sheaf Eccles Sakamoto Torp/Rudoni...

    Relegation Battle?

Portsmouth was a real kicker. Norwich was a definitely disappointing but taking a step back, it was one of those freak comebacks given the circumstances. It was otherwise a solid away performance and on another day we come away with a fantastic 3 points or a decent draw.

I’m happy for Sunderland to win this, 3 points of playoffs with 16 games left. This is well doable now!

Predictions for the end of the season

I’m high on optimism and reckon we’ll finish 5th because I’m not afraid of anyone outside the top 3. Plenty of home games against teams around us and this is a great position to be in.

    Transfer Rumour January transfer window

Players progress. There are plenty of example of players playing one position, then another, then another. Antonio at West Ham went from being a RM, RWB to striker. Or CR7 from RW to LW to ST. Good players find ways to impact the game from anywhere on the pitch and that’s why Haji did well...

Personally, I find them a bit cringy at times. That Friends dub over for Burnley’s signing of Edwards being particularly cringeworthy.

The top two form teams going at one another, believe it or not! I reckon we could snatch a win here but realistically a draw would be a fantastic result.
