Whilst the thesis behind it is vaguely correct, it’s rather interesting how many large economies managed to pull off extensive QE programmes over the last 10-15 years whilst rates remained at sub-1% and inflation was under control. Would have been fantastic to invest some of that money rather...

I think the key takeaway for the main parties is that one needs to come out promoting the positives of immigration and that the lack of investment in public infrastructure is down to previous governments, not immigrants.

But they’ve decided they’re going to dictate policy agenda on a host of things that are fundamentally unrealistic. I’m going to start a political party which involves free Bentleys for all. Doesn’t matter that it isn’t achievable, that’s for the others to sort out. In the meantime, want a free...

Because I think that’s fundamentally what he believes in. You could tell with his speech on Farage’s comments about him “not understanding the culture” or whatever it was. I think he’s been dragged to a place he didn’t really feel comfortable by the party dynamics.

I’m lucky/unlucky. On paternity leave currently and doing my duty by staying up late for the night feed. We’ve already discussed scheduling the next child around World Cup 2026 the other side of the Atlantic.

Still here and in agreement re Ed Davey. Didn’t know much about him heading into this campaign but seems light years ahead of Farron and Swinson.

Happy for Earlsdon (the poster, not the place) to shoot me down on this, but I feel the immigration issue is misframed: if it was the case that ‘we’ve had X% population growth and no investment in local infrastructure’, it shifts the focus whilst taking what I feel is a more pragmatic approach...

Much like the Brexit vote, I think you’re seeing Reform do well generally in places that have been left behind economically. Stating the obvious, but we need to focus investment in these places and get away from London’s 45th upgrade this century.

Very weird. I’ve just had a cursory scroll through Twitter. Over the last 7 days I’ve had probably 40-50% of my timeline being some form of endorsement for Reform. Now the polls have closed, that’s dropped to >5%. Make of that what you will.
