Do yourself a favour and just believe. I agree with the sentiment but I felt the same way in 22/23 where the impossible was somehow possible!

100% here mate! From the Wednesday POV - a terrible goal to concede! Under Robins, any game we could’ve lost, we lost. Under Lampard, any game we could’ve won (bar Norwich), we won! That’s how it’s felt to me!

Like in 22/23, we need a bit of luck but who doesn’t? Idk about you but I’m loving it that this season is still an unknown!

Agreed to be honest mate! In this league you need to ride your luck a bit and we’re doing that atm. It roughly evens out over a 46 game season and it feels like we’re finally getting our luck. If Dovin gifted a goal like Beasley did today, I’d have been “incandescent” to use a fancy word! 😂😂😂

We had some good chances but on fair viewing, Wednesday were the better team overall imo. A draw was a fair-ish result. Needless to say I’m buzzing Simms forced a clanger from their keeper! ❤️

It always down to home performances because there is a bunch of 3 pointers. We’ve got most of the top half at home in 2025 with Watford, Leeds and Bristol played already (and QPR who were thereabouts). The games against WBA, PNE, Boro and Sunderland are big games. 3 of those are proverbial 6...

Oxford away is a deceptively tough away game but it’s still winnable. Ironically, it’s one of the game I may struggle to get a ticket for without calling in favours. There’s everything to be optimistic for! I reckon we’ll finish 5th this season.

All things considered, this is our hardest away day until Sheff U. A draw would’ve been a good result so to nick 3 points was massive. I didn’t rate Lati, felt he was particularly exposed to their pacy players. Bidwell being back was a boost because he will be even more important when we...

    Ellis simms

He’s a top end calibre striker in the Championship. It’s about time people cottoned on. Can’t head a ball apparently and has scored 4/5 headers! 😍

That’s not how xA works where he’s a low performer. You’re making a subjective argument that’s not backed up by anything, unfortunately.

If what you say is true, his xGA would be higher and it’s not. Frankly, his dribbling made an impression on you and I. However, his output whichever way you look at, is lower.

Put simply: why do the stats not reflect that?

Feel free to agree to disagree but stats don’t lie and Saito is not a standout player in this league. He's not better than Sakamoto or EMC that’s my subjective opinion which is supported by objective markers. I also don’t happen to rate Sakamoto that highly and would like us to upgrade on that...

    Pato

In fairness, we were an absolute state when we looked at him. This could be a shrewd signing for a rotation option, got championship experience and his returns for Swansea last season was pretty strong.

I think he only took on MVE once. Don’t get me wrong, MVE struggled a bit in both games with his twisting and turning on the ball, but it didn’t lead to much. Over 46 games the stats don’t lie and if we wanted to sign a winger with 2 goals and as many assists in 30+ games, people wouldn’t be...

He’d scored 1 goals up to last night and only 2 assists. Whatever you mean by ‘creating panic’ and ‘creating space’, it hasn’t lead to much goal contributions. He’s awkward to defend against but is ultimately quite predictable in both games we played against QPR this season.

Milan Van Ewijk and Tatsu Sakamoto - Casualties of the System

The winning system is the tactical approach to the game, not the formation. Lampard has touched on 5-3-2 being a temporary measure and the players have adapted well and a few wider points about that specific formations pros and cons. Against QPR, similarly, was a successful night because we...

How many chances did he actually create though? He did lots of twists and turns but always wanted to get back onto his right foot and for all his effort, his dribbles didn’t lead to much.

    Championship thread 24/25!

Personally, I didn’t rate Saito too highly. In both games, he did make MVE look a bit silly with his twists and turns but in terms of output, he’s not really delivered much, 2 goals and 2-3 assists. Statistically, very similar to Sakamoto and both players excel most in the defensive aspects of...

    Eustace to Derby

There is always the risk that he is a one season wonder. Last season may have been his only full season as a manager. I wouldn’t have been happy had we signed him and would’ve needed a massive dose of copium to look for positives. Thankfully, we avoided that.
