There’s a lot of balance there! Sheaf won a lot of 50:50s, as did Rudoni and his dribbling was on another level! Grimes brought the control and the pressing that led to his goal, which was a fantastic finish! Genuinely, that midfield today looked miles above the competition.

We honestly made this game look easy, if you were a WBA fan you’d be fuming how outclassed they were by a team 3 points below them. Possibly the most comfortable game I’ve seen us won this season. We could’ve won by 3 or 4 goals if we really went for it.

How does it compare since Lampard/Mowbray took over? What we did under MR and WBA under Corberan is pretty irrelevant now.

Compared to them, we’ve been woeful over the period and only being a better side in 2022/23.

Where has anyone said Wright isn’t our best forward? Pointing out that Simms scored more goals from open play last year isn’t a sleight on Wright. I thought Haji played well out wide yesterday and he looked freer in his role. I’m looking forward to seeing him and Simms rekindle the partnership...

Do you think he’s a better manager than Corberan? I don’t think WBA’s team is particularly great, it was a manager who was arguably the best in the league keeping them in the playoffs. They’ve drew 18 games ans we’ve won more games than them.

We’ll win this. A lot has been made about our injuries and what not but a starting 11 of: Collins MVE Thomas Kitch JDS Sheaf Grimes Sakamoto Rudoni Wright Simms Is a solid lineup and with a bit more ruthlessness, we’ll beat WBA.

The 6 in 39 can be a bit misleading because a lot of those are sub appearances. This is Simms’ worst goalscoring season in his career and he obviously needs to improve going forwards into the final stretch this season and into next season. I don’t see how being in and out of the team has...

    Injuries

When Haji was injured, Simms and BTA’s goals got us into the playoffs when we started that run. Simms has got it in his locker to score a lot of goals in this league (scored in more games, more open play goals than Haji) so looking ahead to next season, I believe he could make a big impact. I...

If Plymouth win and we win, we go into the Plymouth game 6 points ahead. So do the maths and it means we go into that Bank Holiday Monday game without needing a result.

When Corberan left, I’m pretty sure that I posted that they’d drop out the playoffs. I don’t mean to disrespect Mowbray but he really isn’t anywhere up to that standard and Corberan had them punching above their weight.

No because the forwards need to be serviced. We created one big chance and it fell to Haji in the box where he’s got to score. On aerial duels specifically, Simms’ 2.7 per 90 is in the top 25% of forwards and given how the officials ref the game, the advantage is with the CB, that’s not bad. We...

I imagine it’s accumulation for all but Torp and Dovin. Those two were just unlucky. Goes to show just how much depth you need in this league because it’s brutal. To think that Sheaf and Eccles were more or less the only CMs available explains a lot why we fell short last season. Too intense a...

    Injuries

This is harsh, Haji Wright had 0.53 of our 0.99 xG last night. There was also that chance in the box where he tried shimming past a defender and losing the ball rather than just shooting. Simms needed to do better with his fast break but it wasn’t a gilt edged opportunity. Haji’s in the first...

You’re right, I wouldn’t be feeling bullish if it was away, but these are the kinds of games we need to win (or at least not lose) to finish in the playoffs.

If we beat them on Friday, they are effectively out of the race. They’d need a lot of good fortune and a 100% record which they haven’t really put together a winning streak like that under Mowbray. They’ve got Derby who’ve become one of the form teams (as we found out) and I really can’t see...

Take a look and check the results of the teams in and around us? Boro were battered 5-0 v Stoke, Bristol lost 3-0 v Pompey and WBA have lost to Plymouth. Last night, their keeper got MOTM which paints the picture that we should’ve won the game. A bit more ruthlessness was needed from Haji and...

We’ve made a few teams look poor this season because of the way played. If the roles were reversed, would you want to be in WBA’s position going into Friday? Same with Boro (as things stand).
