Yes, but did Wright miss a gilt edge opportunity to bring us back in the game? He also missed a big chance against Hull at 0-0. Ironically, last season Simms scored more open play goals and in more games than Wright (excluding penalties). I’m confident Simms will regain form.

I can’t put my finger on it exactly, but we look a better team with Simms playing even if he hasn’t been great individually. He does occupy defenders better than Haji and that creates space for players like Rudoni, Wright and Paterson (see Pompey winner). It’s good to know he’s doing what the...

    Brad Collins

It’s just the same things being rehashed on new threads. Dovin is injured and Wilson is either not fit enough or good enough to be behind Collins in the pecking order. There’s nothing we can do about the situation until we can sign a keeper in the summer. I’m more interested in how tactically...

    Ellis simms

He’s not beyond criticism, it’s just strange seeing this thread pipe up when we’ve conceded 3 shot goals against bottom of the league. It’s just odd target when there were plenty of poor performances elsewhere. Sakamoto and MVE didn’t take on anyone, Bidwell has been poor since his new...

    5 at the back?

We haven’t figured out how to get results from losing positions. When we score first, it’s a high probability we’ll win. If we concede first, it’s more or less guaranteed we won’t win the game, we’ve only beat Hull (H) from a losing position this season since Lampard has come in.

    5 at the back?

Which suggests it’s more tactical than formation, is it not? We left our lines pretty exposed when we played 5-3-2 and there were games we could’ve easily conceded first. Norwich, Sheff Wednesday, Blackburn and even Swansea to name a few. It’s a tactical flaw that’s been exploited by the...

    Brad Collins

Great. Another Brad Collins thread. He won’t be our GK next season as we’ll almost definitely sign another in the summer.

    Ellis simms

Agreed. Iit’s also a reoccurring theme that Haji is also missing big chances and our chance creation has took a nosedive in the last few games. If Simms had missed some big chances, I’d be a lot more accepting of the finger pointing. He wasn’t the reason why we conceded 3 goals today...

    Ellis simms

Simms didn’t play well today but at the end of they day, the big chances fell to Haji and he missed not 1, but 2 gilt edged chances at 3-1 down. There were many poor performances so targeting Simms is a bit cheap. Sakamoto didn’t take a player on, Rudoni and Wright failed to get balls in the...

    5 at the back?

It is more to do more with tactics than a formation. Dropping Sakamoto for Binks does not seem like a change that would change our fortunes. It was also a different mix of players. It’s a clear trend when we play the bottom teams away from home. They hit us on the counter attack because we...

    5 at the back?

Another loss and we trot out the same lazy trope that playing 5 at the back would magically work. Our record with 5-3-2 was against teams mostly above us.

    Can anybody play the drums?

Am not talking about the criminal charges for obvious reasons. I’m just saying he was a dick when he had 5m of fame on the radio. Completely, and deliberately, unrelated.

    Can anybody play the drums?

I thought that person and the guy who said ‘and this is another mistake [sacking Robins]’ guy were dicks.

Was that guy where King clapped back at him pretty hard?

Can you tell I’d not long woken up? 😂 There you go, this shows just how much we have to fuck up to mess this up.

    3 games to go

In just about every permutation, it literally does to the final day. In fact, it only doesn’t go to the final day if we extend our points lead over Boro. Even with an advantage of 8+ GD on us, it only takes a 4-0 win for us to finish above Boro on the final day in the event we’re 3 points...

    3 games to go

I don’t think it’s a given Bristol City finish in the top 6 either to be honest. They have won 4 away games all season, playing Luton and Leeds away before wrapping up the season playing PNE. It’s likely they will finish in the top 6 because Boro needs to be faultless to overturn the 3-4 point...

Match Thread Plymouth Argyle - Coventry City Match Thread - Monday 21st Apr

Stoke (pre-Lampard) and Pompey we can kind of write off because Portsmouth’s home record is 10th in the league and accounts for 73.5% of their points this season. For reference, we have 13 home wins this and only have 6 more home points than Pompey at home. Derby was the biggest let down...

    Joe Edwards Red Card

The way game is officiated nowadays, you’d think football was a non-contact sport like basketball. Players constantly look for, and even initiate, contact as an excuse to go down. We’re obviously biased because the Boro penalty has kept them in the playoff hunt but if we conceded that penalty...

Match Thread Plymouth Argyle - Coventry City Match Thread - Monday 21st Apr

I’m confident we’ll roll these over comfortably. As disappointing as the draw v Hull was, we were pretty dominant, albeit the chance creation being quite low. Plymouth need to win more than we do so that should give us the opportunity to put them to the sword. 2-0 win.
