    So now we know

Do I understand that you claim to have had cosy chats planning officials about a veto on any expansion to HR? Do you want me to believe a senior planning officer told you about a future potential planning decision without having even seen the particulars of what might have been applied for? Do...

    So now we know

I think the housing estate was a nice idea (retaining the pitch area). Problem is HR Was in the wrong location and none of the football ground infrastructure (aside from the pitch area) was retained to provide a sense of place. If an art deco stand had been available to retain and repurpose to...

    So now we know

Before you claimed no expansion to HR would have passed planning. Now you say some expansion might have passed. Does this mean you concede your first post was not true? For what it is worth, my opinion is expansion up to 30,000 will have been virtually impossible for the planning authority to...

    So now we know

Wasn't Dave Nellist a councillor for the Ward that hosted Highfield Road? His decision has had dire economic consequences for his former Ward. I wonder if he regrets it?

Thanks for your opinion. I think you will find the planning reality a little different to what you may have been led to believe. HR was an historic sports stadium, built before any meaningful planning legislation existed. The stadium had a long history of being licensed for and hosting crowds...

    So now we know

I think the council needed the Arena project to go ahead as was key to its regeneration project for north west Coventry and there was political capital to be made.

That's not a fact, it's your opinion... and that's an important distinction.

Don't leave the Berlin trip too long. Hertha are due to move to a new stadium in 2025. The reason for the move is the Olympic stadium is too big. A team in Germany admitting their stadium is too big and wanting to move to a smaller one - we've got a lot of catching up to do in this country!

    So now we know

I value your opinion, but I'm not so convinced. I've come across plenty of councillors with inflated opinions of their own abilities. I can well see some snake oil salesman massaging council egos before flogging the idea that they would be really clever if they completed the sale of the...

    So now we know

Like Tizsa says, "not necessarily". If the council wanted to make this sort of investment I am pretty sure they could bury it sufficiently well to avoid detection. It occurs to me that a 'promise' of a 'generous' and 'guaranteed' return on investment might be something that could persuade...

    So now we know

I doubt someone like I can get this information, even though a FOI request. Someone who has ties to the council might be able to find out. An FOI request has been made to CCC on the subject of Wasps Bonds in the past and the answer given by CCC is not the straightforward denial it could have been.

    So now we know

The investment would have been in bonds, not Wasps. Local Authorities invest in bonds all the time and I think I'm right in saying CCC routinely holds bond investments in it's portfolio.

You are right, Armenia has become a yo-yo team. There was a time in the 1980s when their fortunes were very similar to the Sky Blues (long run in the top flight and regularly fighting off relegation). Paderborn isn't far from Bielefeld. They both had big British Army of two Rhine barracks...

The third tier is professional now and has been for quite a while. There was a time (pre German unification) when the third tier was regional and a pretty poor standard - one team (I think it was Aachen) signed a couple of players from Nuneaton Borough. The history of the 3 Liga is littered...

    So now we know

What if CCC is the largest investor in Wasps Bonds? Wouldn't that explain an awful lot? No actual evidence, just a thought...

Loans from one club, good or bad?

A club taking a few loans from another club faces a risk. The source club may tell the borrowing club it can only have 'Players A and B' (the good prospects) if they also take 'Player C' (who is less of a good prospect and who the source club would like to see off the wage bill).

The German league system has a peculiarity that distorts the third tier. Reserve sides can play in the third tier (the Liga) but they can't get promoted above this level. This season Bayern Munich II came top, but they won't be promoted. As for the standard at the top of the Liga, it may be...
