Match Thread Coventry City vs Brighton & Hove Albion FC (H) - Match Thread - Sun 13th September (2pm KO) (9 Viewers)

If our £120m worth of new players are not good enough to start in this team then Dean Austin needs to be removed now.
Said it at the start of the window, and got shouted down for it. Yes some good signings in previous windows but some very questionable ones as well.

Grimes
MvE
Mason-Clark
Rudoni

If these carry on starting games then I’m not ashamed to say I don’t have the stomach for it.

Amenda looked a little unfit to me, but Awoniyi and Pinnock were underwhelming signings. Pinnock especially.

OK we maybe in trouble but the hope is their keeper made 2 or 3 worldie saves but we just crumbled in the end

Hold on lads this no plan thing is a bit rich, we were down to 10 we'd created a few chances before that disastrous 5 mins. After that Brighton are a good team it can happen.

It was shit but pre match I would say the majority on here would have agreed that setting up as we did against Man City was the right call. Not really talking about personnel more the system. We can't go on about it now in hindsight.

Disappointed by the crumble but it can happen, today was frustrating, we let the game race away from us, Big T was an idiot, the ref wasn't giving us anything and who can legislate for Dunk twatting in on a postage stamp from miles out. Crap times but you let negativity totally in then we may as well not bother.

Chin up we still can take some pride and enjoy moments when they come. Start building and even if we fail we'll be in a much better place than where we were in 2001

Hard to see so many people leaving early. Performance was abysmal, what stuck out for me was the lack of fight and aggression after we went down to 10 men.
The in fighting started towards the end with Rushworth having a go at the defence which is worrying.
It’s four games but the new signings Amenda aside don’t look up to it for me.
If we could take the chances in the first half though we go on to win.
Grimes isn’t good enough as much as I wanted him to be.
We haven't seen much of the new signings. Some of those promoted clearly aren't good enough for the PL and that might well include the manager

What's been said about Simms' absence?

Brilliant support at the end - super proud. Let’s stick together in the hard times.

One of my prouder moments of being a city fan was seeing 15-20k fans still showing their support for the team at the end. Anyone can jump on the bandwagon and party when times are good but it’s a sign of the man/woman how they react in the tough times….and that was tough

Need to be far more clinical in front of goal and there’s some soft bits of defending but the desire was still there today and we had our moments again

Said it after Man City I don’t really like 5ATB at home,. happy with it away especially against the best but It’s not our game and isnt utilising the attacking players. Won’t make a difference unless we’re better in both boxes though

Get Tchouna and Gboho in the team

Our fans came dressed as empty blue seats AGAIN? Does lying to yourself make you sleep better at night? Oooo we sang last 10 minutes, next thing you’ll be routing for us to beat Derby’s record just so we’re in the history books.
Tough wank but I’ll manage.

At least it’s only 25 years till the next decent season

See, and I'm sure I will get the 'you're overly emotional' spiel, but what is the actual point?

We spend a quarter of a fucking century backing us in the likes of groundshares, league 2 etc, all in the hope that one day its our name in lights amongst the big boys, that one day we will be back and showing the best of ourselves, Coventry City the great escapists, the ones who always gave the big boys a bloody nose at least twice a season.

And then after all that shit we went through, the holy grail is intact an insipid, boring, money grabbing, pile of cat shit that sucks the life and any enjoyment out of it when you get there.

Like whats actually the fucking point? We go down great, we will be in a good position to get back. But im not fucking sure we would want too. Its an absolute world away from the league i remember as a child and its fucking soul destroying

Another multiple account set up to spout shite.

Find something better to do with your life.

Trying to think of the positives. Our games so far have been against the current top 4 in the premier league.

I’ve never seen us in the prem and I’d rather win the championship and just start of 5/10 points in front the following season as the reward

He doesn’t know his best team
He doesn’t know his best shape
He had half a year to prepare for this and looks lost
Fully agree. Playing 5atb away at Man City is fine, but not at home to Brighton. No offence to Brighton, but we have to play TO OUR strengths in a game like that. Especially at home. And that is with zero disrespect to Brighton. We showed them more disrespect playing the way we did than if we'd of had a go at them in 4231.

To be honest I thought it was a bit cringe been battered at home 5-0 and not scored a goal all season and players are still being clapped and cheered off.
Ok Rugby. 2 camps I guess. Those who walk away and give up after 70 minutes. Or those who stick with the team to try to give some confidence to the lads and show unity after a very tough afternoon. I see those fans as true supporters.

I do agree with this.

The Premier League is corporate football bankrolled by some of the world's worst human beings and dictated to by a television contract that has got completely out of hand.
