No serious competition allows that and now senegal will go on to win probably , crazy
You say 'allows', but if a team behaves like that, what can you do?

Senegal are going to be in big trouble after this. Some sort of ban, surely. Doesn't matter how aggrieved you feel, you can't behave like that.

Youd argue they forfeit the match leaving the field of play because they sulked during regulation time

Isnt there a rule where 1 player must stay on the pitch otherwise the other team can kick off when a goals scored?

Could something like that happen

I think the ref could have allowed the penalty to be taken with the other team of the pitch and he'd still have missed

Will anybody ever respect senegal as legitimate winners here ?

Why do people insist that missed panenkas are worse than any other missed penalty?

Yeah, that's probably fair.

It's unprecedented, though. Never seen anything like it.
It'll have happened in club football more often than we think probably, but this will be the highest profile example for a very long time.

Isn’t it just someone trying to predict where the keeper will dive like most penalties do?
If a keeper stays central for a panenka he will almost certainly save it

If you put some power on a pen then even if the keeper guesses right you still have a chance of scoring

Isn’t the (lack of) pace on the ball a deliberate attempt to stop the keeper from saving it mid-dive? It’s not inherently more or less likely to go in if you hit it hard and the keeper stays dead central, surely?

Mendy went to go down amd had time to reorganise and adjust to save because of the poor power ..

It was cocky hence why its universally agreed his miss made him look a tit
