Would have liked to see us bring on Simms for Rudoni at half time and go two up front. Their formation did not allow us to play plan A and we didn't seem to try a plan B. No panic just need to put it right next game.

no, not heard that, but wer‘e so close and when you’re main man hasn’t scored since october and goals are starting to dry up and his back up isn’t much better you can’t afford to hope they come good, we need somebody in now,
Interesting. Any ideas on who it is coming in

Hard one to take tonight, but a combination of tired legs & some players well off the pace against that level of opposition meant there was only going to be 1 winner in the end. However, It’s getting beyond a joke now with these decisions not being given.

We generally bounce back well after a defeat so hopefully we seem a marked improvement on NYD & Sunday, before we can rest some legs for the cup but I worry we are running on empty. Hopefully we will have a couple through the door by time we face Leicester on the 17th.

Rudoni having a free role appears ro be the main issue .. he has no fucking idea what hes doing half the time , completely slows us down
I feel he’s protecting his shoulder and playing within himself. We should sign cover in Jan and get the op done as he is not offering anything right now

Scary thing now I am home with a glass of scotch is this. We did play badly against a very good team, but this very good team only managed to get 22 points in the Premier League. The level of investment and players you will need to stay in the Premier if you get there are unreal. Our squad had a suggested value at the start of the season of between 90 to 95 and Ipswich's was 175 to 180. Scary if your an owner sitting on pots of values like that and knowing that to survive you might have to liquidate the squad, add another 200 million and treble the wage bill just to try and survive with the big boys.

In fairness to Wright and Simms the service they got was appalling. In theory we had two wingers out there, who provided nothing. In comparison despite all Ipswich possession, their best moments came down our left from a natural winger, Jack Clarke.
Wright’s hold up/link play was childlike in competence.
We struggled to get the ball into any forward positions for the majority of the match - certainly on the ground.
But Haji’s contribution (he wasn’t alone of course) was yet again utter shite.

It's when posters suggest we have 5-6 players who are starters....

Was trying to get on the Ipswich Town fans forum without success.
I was going to say you are a very good team well done last night but in response to your fans singing ,top of the league you’re having a laugh’. The SBA response should be to the tune of ey eye Adio.’ Ten points clear would you like to swap ?

We’d have to replace the entire team if we went up. I don’t think any of our current contract players are good enough to be anything more than squad players at Premier League level. Harsh reality of the chasm between the leagues.

Probably the keeper (who isn't ours) and Grimes who could fit into a premier squad. We got schooled today

My assessment.
Man for man they were the better team.
Dasilva was never my favourite player but the drop off in quality on the ball is massive.
If we do go up Grimes won’t be the answer. He’s brilliant in this league but their number 5 bullied him.
We need to drop Rudoni. We look a poorer team with him starting at present
Basically they were miles better on the night

Today we were a shadow if the team weve been so far this season.
It looked to me as though the Intensive fixture programme plus illness had finally caught up with a small squad of players.
We looked jaded.
The key now is how we react in the next few games. We have to regroup and put the defeat behind us as a one off.
And more than ever we need to forget about that Stoke cup game and focus on what's important.

We need to go back to 4-4-2, Simms and Wright upfront or have Eccles start in a 4-2-3-1.

Simms has been unfairly treated, was POTM and dropped for a player who hasn’t scored since Sheff Wednesday. Wright is a better player on his day but if he’s not scoring, he shouldn’t have been starting ahead of a striker who is in form.

Rudoni and Wright’s lack of form is a problem that Lampard needs to deal with. We’ve looked worse with them both in the team.

Knowing that Ipswich struggle against the low block, I wonder why we didn’t opt to simply park the bus to frustrate them and then try to hit them on the counter (regardless whether we’re at home)? Worst case we end up with a draw bad and best case we might nick a win. I think playing an expansive game (as we’ve tried before) plays into their hands. Just my thoughts. I don’t care if we don’t entertain as long we get the job done. If we’d gotten a draw, we’d have preserved our unbeaten hims streak and gained a point over Boro as well. I hope the team doesn’t look for excuses, get too down or go off the boil now.
