Don’t get why so many people rate him. He's not “serviceable” or “decent”, every time he plays we leak goals.

Some of you lot would have persevered with Lati and Binks and we’d be nowhere near top.

“Every time he plays we leak goals” I mean this is just bollocks the one season he played the most we had one of the better defences in the division we haven’t “leaked goals” for about ten years.

Let me explain it to you so a child can understand.

Lats isnt getting a game, he isnt going to get a game unless we lose 2 of the 3 players ahead of him, and even then there's no guarantee that Bidwell may be asked to cover instead of lats. So he ain't getting a game!!!!

Still with me?

Now if we accept that he ain't getting a game, we would be better off selling him or loaning him, or even (as a last resort) paying up his contract so he can move on.

That would then allow us to bring in another CH to add to the squad to add depth and the much needed competition for places that Lats has failed to offer.

Do you understand now???? If not go and show this post to a grown up and ask them to explain it to you.

There's a good boy.

Add another centre half - who’d hardly get a game…

It’s just not a position that needs sorting in the same way the centre mid and wide attacking ones do, nothing more to it than that.

Before the end of last season several fans would have been happy to get rid of Lati, Allen, Eccles, Bidwell, Asante, Simms and Wright.

Here we are sitting top with ridiculous stats and they have all featured, apart from Lati who has been injured. But Lati can cover several positions if required. Okay not first choice but a decent short term fix. That is what you need from a squad player.

Some posters on here think they are Frank Lampard when they are clearly not.

That right back performance two seasons a go against Birmingham away still gives me nightmares and made me realise that Latty was not the answer

True but he was particularly bad

His best position is undoubtedly centre half. He’s committed and seems to be pretty strong.

He did have one decent game in midfield for us at Sunderland I think? But I certainly wouldn’t be putting him in there ahead of Eccles or Allen.

I don’t think he has the pace for right back.

Tbf even now, many would be happy to see Latts, Allen, Eccles, Bidwell and Simms move on in January, and despite Wright scoring for fun early on this season, his form has dipped to the extent that there's now a "Haji Shite" thread, live on this very forum. (Although personally I do rate him and would keep him, despite his roller coaster form)

Only BTA has come back from last season as a rejuvenated player, looking like a serious threat, and being our most improved player.

So in short your little rant doesn't really stand up to any scrutiny

His pace is his limitation but he is a solid, aggressive defender who reads the game well. I mentioned on another thread, I don't believe Keiffer Moore would have bullied him as he did Woolfie, despite Lati being a lot shorter.
I remember Preston away last season where he was brilliant and one diving header from our 6 yard box to stop a certain goal, at risk of being clattered.
I remember that. I thought it was an excellent piece of brave defending by him

Not sure on Eccles or Simms.

Simms in particular has looked good when he’s had minutes this season.

Also v error prone. WBA away last season did him in for good. Whenever Lati and Binks played last season as a pair, we were v likely to concede 2 goals. Those 2 selection decisions by Robins was madness and genuinely was the beginning of the end.

Lati has a niche role as a CB in a 3 man defence, he defends like a RB, without having the attributes of a modern day RB (like KKH or MVE) and isn’t as good of a defender as Thomas or Kitch.

Personally, I think Lati wouldn’t have had a good game v Wrexham. That particular game was a perfect storm with 3/4 defenders being out.

Having Lati as a 4th choice CB is a great deal of strength in depth, he starts for most Championship teams imo.

Already expressed my admiration for Lati and I want to see his form when he gets match fit. Still way off if he can't get in the Jamaica team.
The reservation I have with Lati is as last man, going over when he is nudged to get a foul. We have seen already this season that refs are letting those go as "a coming together of bodies". Often erroneously, like the barge on Tatsu that led to Wrexham' third goal.

Went to the FA cup game with an Ipswich fan. As soon as I saw Lati at RB I called we were toast. He is definitely not a RB, far too slow. Has a very odd running style.

Think he needs to be in a 3 with players with pace to cover him.

9 clean sheets in the 29 games he started last season. We only kept 14 in total. I'd say you're talking shite.
In fairness, we keep a lot more clean sheets and concede less goals when Thomas-Kitching played CB, than Lati-Binks, Lati-Thomas and Lati-Kitching. There is a general pattern there.

He’s more comfortable in a back 3 and without crunching any numbers… I’m pretty confident theyd show two things: first, he concedes less playing 3 atb and a higher proportion of clean sheets.
