Probably should've worded it as: "after our 24k STHs there isn't that many fans who would follow us regularly". The point being that the price wouldn't really impact total attendance by much either way.

It will be a bigger crowd than West Brom. Are there really going to be people in Coventry £43 for a single ticket for a lunchtime game?
Some West Brom fans boycotted a few years ago and they had about 1500 in the away end. I think will see lower than that.

It's to punish away fans. It won't work with West Brom as they won't sell it out at those prices. Birmingham and Leicester fans will bite their tongue and pay it.

It's a decision that's been made to maximise our income. Once you take away the away tickets there's not many home tickets left. There will be more demand when the schools go back.
You either get a ST or pay the price.

Has it? CWR said opening day we’d sold 23,500 and I don’t think any have been on sale since.

That’s not really what we’re discussing.
Besides, if the average away following is 1500, that means a 28k attendance is 26.5k Cov fans, i.e. a v small proportion of supporters/day trippers who go to ad-hoc games.
Again, we’re not actually selling that many tickets per game outside the ‘big games’ because our base support is an impressive 25-26k home fans.
Setting prices at a level that people are unwilling or unable to.pay makes no sense. Blues might sell theirs and people will say it's justified, but I don't think we sell out for that game, and Albion I'm willing to bet will be the lowest crowd of the season up until that point. As mentioned by someone else, if they sell 1500 for that game I'd be amazed.
Yes, we sold out last season against them, but it was a bank holiday, and we were both in the play off mix, and it was £25 for kids not £35.
From a base of 23K season tickets we should be selling out high profile games like Blues and Albion, but we won't, and will be well short for the latter. I might be wrong about Blues, but Albion should never be cat a+ game.

Last season especially after Christmas we generally sold between 3 to 5000 matchday tickets .
Irrespective , the club was pushing towards 30,000 most of the second half of last season
Its a pretty fair amount of matchday tickets sold , considering most well supported clubs have a very small amount left after season ticket sales

They will no doubt boycott it. When they did a boycott a few years ago before Christmas, only 1500 turned up and that was £37. Even with inflation, £45/46 is another level of madness. That will encourage even the most diehard to consider boycotting.
I know some won't care, but it won't be a good look for the club. We'll face backlash from Birmingham and West Brom.
The big issue for me is West Brom at 12:30pm in November should not be Cat A+.

I haven't said it's a good idea. I see it more of maximising our income over the season.
We want a side good enough to compete at or near the top of the table. We haven't raised funds by selling our best players like we have always done before. We were unlucky not to beat Hull. If we continue like this we will be challenging at the top of the table. We will most probably be playing in a stadium full or close to full.
Understand your point completely, and we do have to maximise the revenue, I was just pointing out that at that level it has the potential to reduce revenue because you don't sell the seats you would otherwise sell and alsi can't open up things like the ST resale which worked well last season it's a fine balance. Anyway, with today's news you understand what's motivating it in the short term.
The working man's game now requires two or three Hours of their investment?

Bank holiday game are usually Cat A, which is still dear enough for Swansea.

I've heard they'll be charging for cycle parking. You'll have to print a ticket in colour at min. 600 dpi or you'll get arrested and thrown in jail (these days). Don't look for the pity party on here when it happens.

I feel sorry for the away fans because they don’t get a choice in what we charge. In relation to Cov, our ST prices and pricing is generally reasonable so it’s only a small % of Cov fans impacted for this, Blues and so on.
At some point, the Championship may introduce a cap on away tickets like the Prem. Not 100% sure if i agree with that, but it’s coming.
They'll have to charge their own fans in equivalent areas the same if they do.

I dont think the clubs will agree to it as a collective. Turnstile income is essential to many as the TV money doesnt filter down like the premier league.

The worry is that if they introduce a price cap, it could end up being more expensive for fans than before.
Let’s say the cap is £35, for arguments sake, you could see all the clubs charging that because it’s a new norm. Or for clubs who sell out home allocations, home tickets increases to subsidise the away fans.
It is expensive to follow a football team, most Saturday games are likely to be £30 at a minimum. That’s without the extras like ticketmaster and postage.
