I wouldnt really be loaning him out with an option.

I'd either be doing a straight sale or loan only. Not sure an option benefits us

Id personally go with a straight loan if we can get away with it ..
20 years old , lots of exciting attributes and the potential to turn into a good forward

Belgium national team clearly see him as a prospect too

He played 452 minutes in the championship last season and scored 2 goals .... at 20
He was mostly dreadful in those minutes, let’s be honest.

I’m not saying he won’t improve, he might. But I barely see the evidence of a £500k player in waiting atm, let alone a £2.5 million one.

You are giving a player on average a few minutes to show what he can do , its hard

Hes got alot of good attributes , playing off the shoulder will definitely be a strength of his but will ofcourse see him offside more .

The fact we haven't played him constantly in the u23s pisses me off too when hes not getting 1st team minutes

He is fairly quick but I don’t see many attributes outside of that

I also think hes the type of forward that you can play across the entire front line if needed .. always seemed to work hard whenever he played despite lampard indirectly suggesting hes lazy in training

Like his predecessor FL is a 'my way or the highway' type of manager. Great to work with if you buy in to what he wants, but you'll be persona non grata very quickly if you don't.

It wouldn't shock me if Bassette worked better under a different manager and we'd be very silly to just gift him away on the assumption that he won't.

Let's be honest frank hasn't really got the best out of any of the forwards .. so a move on could see him really flourish , letting him go for 500k would be insane
This is what I meant in post 72 of this thread. Some players have benefitted massively one way or another since FL became manager and some haven't. One poster suggested I was blaming the manager, it's not as simple as that but you have to ask whether under different circumstances, and/or a different approach, some of our other players could have benefitted more.

Bassette won't be a top level footballer, he isn't good enough and I haven't seen anything to suggest otherwise. This is not even taking into account his seemingly immature and bad attitude.

The fact MvE is still here and we’ve got a squad full of deadwood and the only rumours that come out are us massively over valuing our players meaning deals break down. The fact the only sales he’s sanctioned have been wildly overvalued like Palmer and Binks. The fact we keep handing out long contracts the the middest of squad players.

But yeah, “Twitter”
This is absolute drivel

Squad full of "deadwood"... that finished 5th last season.

Added two quality players for the level in KKH and Rushworth. Brau on a free which is very low risk and great business if it comes off. Clearly in the market for a top CB too.

Would you rather he bent over and sold MVE for £7m when he's clearly worth more?

If we want to wash our hands of him i'd be pretty certain a youth international would be fairly well regarded in his home country and we could at least recover most of the fee.

I still like Bassette. Imo definitely the type of young player who, given a run in a team and the confidence of a couple of goals, could suddenly improve beyond recognition.

Put him out on loan for a season rather than sell, see how he does.

Kinda tempted to take this bet tbh. The longer he doesn’t play the worse value he’ll get due to the reputation he’ll gather for the reasons he’s not in the squad
If he goes on loan to a decent standard of football his value will shoot back up if he does well, Man City and Chelsea been playing this game for years.

Should be a straight loan with a option of 1st refusal to buy at the market value come summer. Or is Doug trying to do a Sancho sort of deal Utd and Chelsea had.

Doug is holding out for £30 million for Bassette, smart move, he has a Belgium cap you know

It seems a lot for a youth player to me

Me too, worth about the same as Bassette's 30 second appearance:

That’s the thing though, it’s a lot of ifs atm for a player who seems to be below Obikwu on the bench.

He has the ability but needs a move fast imo
