The thing with the contrast was I had to do all the pictures as b/w so they were the same colour. I wanted them to be a slightly darker blue but couldn't work out how to change them so the colour was consistent. Wasn't going to spend ages going through contrasts and transparencies to get the effect I wanted though - it was just to get the idea of using the spires to creates 'stripes'.I don't think it works. Too much contrast, probably needs to be very subtle shadow in main colour. Anyway the three spires are different heights, if you are going to use them, depict them properly.
I also though about what height to make them and whether to have them different sizes. Again I could have redone the pics to show that but seemed like a lot of effort for what is just to give a general idea. People get paid decent money to create these things professionally while I just spent 20mins pissing about with a free online kit creator.
And anyway, the height all depends on perspective and your viewing point. Hence why I'd love for Manor House Drive to be redeveloped and used more as a route into the city centre - you can get all the spires and all looking roughly the same height from there. Potentially a great photo op.
I think the idea is a decent one (The last kit was focused on a design pattern based around a tree that looked like a Angry Bird FFS) and maybe could inspire (no pun intended, though again would create a much better marketing slogan than the March to the City nonsense) someone who does this professionally to do a better job of it.
