Stand up if you've never watched Wasps (4 Viewers)

If people had been as venomous against our owners as they are about a team who play a sport they care nothing about, maybe the outcome would have been different.

Both SISU and Wasps have got off far too lightly in my opinion. I do think people have reacted stronger to SISU than Wasps though.

I rarely bring up my own morals or principles, when I do they are consistent.

The thing is though, other people don't seem to be very consistent and seem to want to get their views from what other people do.

If CCFC moved 80 odd miles, changed their name and got loads of new fans who loved it. Would that be OK? MK Dons get bigger attendances than AFC Wimbledon, does that mean that was OK?
To some of you yes to me No.
Just the move would kill the club to me never mind a name change.

For that reason I do not support the Wasps.
May go and watch them though!

Only when they play Cov in a couple of seasons :)

Its different.
Wasps can get away with it because they have a wide base of fans around the country. Probably gained because of their nomadic existence.
CCFC has no real draw from outside the area. Also there are very few pockets like MK in the country a team could drop into and be successful.
CCFC moved to Northampton and lost most fans and gained few new ones.

It would be interesting to see if Milton Keynes decided they needed a rugby team and decided wasps were perfect and they gave the owners lots of his favourite stuff (cash) how many of these new loyal followers would go with them.

Nope, I can safely say any permanent move 85 miles away then I'd be out and I'd be pretty much done with football. I mentioned the name change because Italia tried to throw that in to justify the move earlier on. Even without a name change I'd also be out.

I moved it about 10 minutes ago when ccfcway said, I haven't been on much the last few days and haven't been at a computer to do it.

I'm not loosing anything either.

There is more chance of CCFC going to MK than Wasps. Take it from me Sisu have considered it.

50% of their fans signed a petition demanding they stay in the area - funny how in every post you keep saying you don’t know about rugby - not interest in wasps but post far more than about ccfc games - laughable really

50 per cent may have initially signed a petition, but out of interest I have just scrolled through the last 25 pages of their forum and there is not one thread showing any protest about Wasps being moved or playing at the Ricoh. That for me is proof enough there is no longer any active protest by Wasps fans. I suspect a good
percentage of that 50 per cent were Coventry City fans protesting the move like myself.

Very disappointing response by their fans from the beginning through to now.

Good to see Coventry Rugby crowds and revenues have actually gone up since their arrival and I hope that trend continues. With the efforts of Jon Sharpe, Lara Hunter and Rowland Winter the signs are it will.

To be fair, the wasps forum is tightly admind, and I remember from when I looked when they first arrived people were quickly booted off and posts deleted on any remotely negative. For all the shit nick gets we're lucky he pretty much let's anything go, unless its illegal or libelous.

I imagine these fans are protesting by not attending anymore, just like many of our fans. Unfortunately, due to bandwagoners and freebies they aren't missed. They'd always predicted a significant drop off of their London fan base.

I'd also argue the increase in attendances at CRFC are as much to do with our decline, and fans boycotting ccfc and instead going to butts park arena.

I'll help.
They had attendances of 6000 at Wycombe.
The petition had 3000 signatures.
Where it falls down though is a lot of CCFC fans signed the petition as I guess would Leicester, Worcester and Northampton fans.

More interesting at the time was a poll by the Coventry Telegraph asking readers would they welcome Wasps to Coventry and 53% said yes.

Successful Move ? 6000 average at Wycombe and 16,000 in Coventry.
Sometimes people just need to see the bigger picture.

Ah so he is just guessing. Thought so

I suspect the majority of that 50% were CCFC fans. It got more air on here and CCFC related Facebook pages than any Rugby or Wasps forum.

Wasps fans didn’t put up a fight in any numbers at all and made no noise either. Especially when you compared it to what we done as individuals and groups.

Just chatting to a mate who is going on Saturday to CRFC with a Northampton Saints Fan.
Neither are CRFC fans, both are going fircthe full meal, match abd entertainment. Both say it’s a great day hence why they go. They say Wasps arrival has done no harm to CRFC but instead has actually galvanised it.

No it's called applying a patently untrue interpretation to selected factual data to back up a relatively baseless claim and hoping no one will properly research the issues and expose the nonsense for what it is. Notice the source is never referenced because it makes it harder to locate and debunk it. He does it all the time. :)

Cov are doing well, that is nothing to do with wasps. It's down to rowland winter. Why didn't the council consider selling the Ricoh to cov? Giving them the extra revenues? Which they are trying to do at the butts.

Bloody hell do you not miss the irony of quoting Italia to try to prove Grendel wrong, by saying he is guessing, when Italia clearly says in his post he is guessing at figures in the petition.

So you are laughing at Grendel 'guessing' whilst using the figures of someone who is clearly guessing to prove him wrong. I would give up Dongo.

Well apparently more fans are going to CRFC partly because of their disgust at Wasps arrival but also after the Northampton debacle so maybe SISU and Wasps have helped out CRFC. Didn’t Wasps lend CRFC some players in the past as well?

I thought you weren’t bothered - as for guessing a petition has 3,000 signatures which is 50% of their crowd. So it’s a fact.

So you are now trying to push credit to wasps for cov rugby doing well? Bit weird.

More fans are going cov because they have built the club up again slowly and carefully. Which is now coming to fruition on the pitch. Winning games, increased attendances. Fuck all to do with wasps.

There were 2,960 signatures when it closed. I’ve linked a post they said 2,700’already.

What’s your agenda eh?

That’s that then it’s a fact. Well 2999 as didn’t Italia say he signed it. So not really a fact at all, but never mind.

The reality is that it won’t be that all 3000 Signature’s are just from Wasps fans.
People from businesses in the local area will have signed it. People from the council of the local area. Other Rugby fans not happy with franchising. Councillors from the local area. Friends and family of those who are fans who are helping out. There will be loads of signatures from non Wasps fans.
However let’s say for once you nearly got something right (you haven’t) the fact that less than 50% of their fans could even be bothered to click a button to express their protest against moving......
What does that tell you?

His agenda seems to be to show that you make things up then call them facts.
He has been proven right.
You do not know and cannot possibly know that all 2960 people were Wasps fans abd the reality is they won’t all be.
