"We want to announce a striker signing today"

"He's experienced and played in prem two years ago"

Nicky Maynard - Premier League in 2013 with Cardiff

Experienced - been at West Ham and Cardiff

Chances - quite high. No club, already been rejected by clubs who can offer more than us (Forest) I think

"I think I'm pretty certain the new striker will be subject to medical. There will be no problems. He will bring a bit more physicality, played in the Premier League two years ago, he'll help the group and the squad and he's been training with us for a week."

It shouldn't be that hard to narrow it down. Where's the free agent list which the PFA provide?

Hmmm, I'm trying to think of strikers that played in the Premier 2 years ago. :thinking about:

Rooney? Aguero? Wellbeck? Drogba? Bony?

My research suggests any of these:

Ricardo Vaz Te (don't think he played in the PL 2 years ago though, fits in with physicality and experience)

Nicky Maynard (fits all of the criteria)

Shola Ameobi (too high wages and rubbish anyway)

Andy Johnson

Marvin Sordell

It has to be one of them. Sordell or Maynard most likely

Unless Maynard is on a pay as you play type deal it would be a big risk given his dire injury record, when the purse strings are so tight can we afford to take such a punt on someone who's knee might blow up again?

TM has also said they'd bring some physicality, Maynard is 5'11 and is more of a play on the shoulder type from what I remember.

I think it'll be someone else - but if it is Maynard I certainly won't complain.

Didn't Vaz Te do a little bit for Barnsley and then sign for West Ham and go quiet?

No, he signed for West Ham and did really well with them to begin with, helped them get promoted. Then they spent money in the Premiership and he couldn't get a game.

Whoever it is I am certain will be pacey and a different type to Armstrong, Sordell was in prem last season not 2 years ago. Going on Mowbray's dealings so far Lilely to be a name not mentioned, could be a TM connection, has Samaras signed for anyone yet ?

Fortune fits the description. If it is him I wouldnt be surprised to see it just be a 4 month deal again.

I saw this of CCFCs twitter, it was quotes from this morning's press conference.

Whoever it is, it's an extra option, and if they are a physical striker, they will give more space to Armstrong. They may not score many goals but if it's allows Armstrong to score, they would be valuable in that sense.
