Disappointing to be knocked out early on, predominantly from a revenue and excitement (potential draw of a bigger team etc) perspective, but nothing more. The squad isn't big enough to cope with three cups and the league anyway.....

Of all the people to miss, RL is probably one of the worse - he looked short of confidence on Saturday, I hope this doesn't knock it anymore. Especially as he seems like a player that would thrive in L1 the more confident he becomes.

A bit like Armstrongs on sat? Can they really be classed as disallowed?!

I guess not. If CWR is anything to go by Tudgay's was still in play that was disallowed.

TBH, when we score from set pieces etc, I look straight to ref/lino before going nuts :(

I'll send you your half. All you need to do is send me a small "Handling Fee"

I go nuts first then check the officials then go even more nuts

Feel hard done by losing a goal that was ruled offside. Seen it back and even George is a yard onside.

Maddison also had late chance but hit it at the keeper.

Frustration is we knew they were a direct football team. Bang it up to a huge player, and get the ball in the box.

Scored against the run of play and not when they should have done.

Great strike, top corner for them.

Enough over 90 minutes to not be out the competition.

Cook did fine, did well. Been fantastic in pre season, showed awareness and sharpness. Deserved to play. Will have to play if Lee loses form, or injury.

Martin has done well. Been aggressive and dominant, which they spoke about post last season.

Wont get sucked into refereeing conversation. Ref had tough night. People will have opinions on his performance.

Felt we could have won with the dominance towards the end.

Lamieres will feel gutted, but to be expected.

Players will take stock of being unbeaten in 2 games.

Hopefully wil be stronger when return to league games.

He also bemoaned having 2 18 year olds up front (with Marcus to help them) and said we'd rectify this and get stronger as the season goes on.

Thought over the 90 mins we were the better side. Was bemused when Tudgay's volley was disallowed (looked a great finish as well) looked drained as to be expected.

They should very scored from 2 simple headers and I'm still not sure how Cooke kept the 1st one out. Ruben and Maddison looking to run at the defence is good to see but struggled for an end product.

Thought Martin was solid and didn't put a foot wrong. Tudgay did well and took his 3 goals well. Stokes got forward a lot but was shot at the end. A decent committed performance makes the loss much easier to take. Ruben was gutted at the end. Looked like a few staff were putting their arm on his shoulder.

We were very good at times tonight and Imo didn't deserve that.

With such a fragile squad it might be a blessing but it's a shame we miss the opportunity to get a big tie.

As for the belittling of Rochdale. They are one of the better sides in the league as their good position last season showed.

Onward and upwards.

There a small team but don't let that deceive you, there a tidy outfit who shocked a few last season and I expect them to do the same this year.

Rochdale looked organised and we outplayed them. Shame we couldn't take the chances which we created. Would have thrived a cup run but league is priorty especially with the side we have and potential this season. Anyone else stuck in traffic on m62? Stationary for 25 mins. Goin to be a long night

They've got some tidy players and scored a decent goal. Remember you are talking to clueless KoK.

Agree with this. They are a decent team but at times they really struggled to do anything but clear the ball long. I do think however that they were very well organised at the back and made it difficult to break them down.

Tbh it looked the very opposite of lack of confidence to me, who knows it might be the making of him if he realises that there's a time and place for fancy dannery and a taking the eight spot-kick in a penalty shoot-out isn't either of them.

Good ode reaction to him from the SBA after the whistle, I wonder what reaction Tudgay would have got if he had missed?

Would hope the same, tried hard tonight and scored twice.

Just got back in from the game. All in all, I was happy with the performance. We started very slowly but found our feet in the later stages of both halves and really should have won it. Rochdale are a decent side for this level and to go to their place and get a draw would be a very decent result in the league, especially with a weakened side like tonight. It's just unfortunate that tonight's game had to have a victor because we didn't really deserve to lose. Big props to Sam Ricketts, who was excellent again, Ruben Lameiras, who looked very bright and decently creative, #JM10, who basically swung the game in our favour second half and Chris Stokes, who worked tirelessly on the left side all game and also provided a decent attacking threat as well. Biggest props of all go to Reice Charles-Cook though who pulled off three incredible saves in extra time to ensure the tie went to pens.

I think Rochdale only made one change from their good win over Peterborough at the weekend and that was at full back ( May be misinformed.) I also think Fleck played very well tonight. He played a very similar role to their captain Allen, who was one of their best players. Played very deep with Morris (who was off the pace and wasteful in possession in 90 minutes but improved in extra time) but he was one of the better players when coming forward with the ball.

Imo we shouldn't be too did upset by this

If this was a league game we would of stole a point from this game which would compliment the 3 points at home

We lost on penalties which is a 50/50 gamble

What the hell are props? :thinking about:

Guessing you must be quite young. Had to Google it.

Is it really slang for 'propers?' which in itself makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and sends a shudder through my body.

'Propers' is goddamn awful and 'props' even worse.

'Big props to Sam Ricketts' sounds like he's in an amateur theatre production of a Ray Cooney farce.

Thanks to the extra time and penalties, plus the endless road works and the massive diversion thanks to the M62 being completely shut, I got home at 01:30 this morning. Thanks a lot City!
