Does this place get much publicity in Cov? Quite a few on here don't seem to have heard of it but are local. My excuse is I'm from outside Cov. Seems a shame if its so good.

It does I think to be honest. You still wouldn't believe how many people in Coventry have never heard of the Godiva Festival.

People that like to make a point that 'Cov is shit' or utter boring cunts who only ever sit at home gurning out of their bedroom window.

Fargo is excellent, got a good feel to it but it is still in its infancy and will take a while to develope, however I'm hoping it will flourish and get the support it needs.
i had a sneak look at the micro brewery on Monday and it looks great #lovecov

Right. Nice to know. I always park in the official car park which is in Sky Blue Way. Is it free in Grafton Street?

Not 100% but pretty sure it is.

When I lived in Cov, which was until I went off to Uni in 92, 'Cov is shit' was the general attitude of most people. Of course not knowing any better I assumed it to be correct. Having since worked in many different cities and countries I've realised its not that bad after all.

Think what tends to happen is when you visit somewhere you only visit the good parts, its not until you've lived somewhere that you get to know the downside.

The odd thing is the city in the UK I've lived in that seems to have the most local pride is Portsmouth and its by far the biggest dump of a place I've ever lived!

Yep. I see no problem with 'foreign' shops down Gosford Street or anywhere else for that matter.

How many 'white British' people work at any Domino's? How many local newsagents are run by 'white British' people? How many 'White British' people work at any Subway outlet? How many taxi drivers are British? Bus drivers?

Like it or not we are a multi cultural society and there are 'foreign' people everywhere. It's a good mix down Gosford Street I would say. There is a Domino's there, an ice cream parlour, a musical instrument shop, a fancy dress shop, an Italian restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, a place selling pork batches, etc. etc. etc.

Such a shame some people find it a bad place due to all the 'foreign' shops.

Dear me.

No wonder Coventry struggles as a city.

Don't you live in Cov, CC4L?

It's down Gosford Street. Fargo (Far Gosford). Me and my daughter love it there. Coffee shops, sweet shop, vintage clothes, crafts, book shops, soon to be bar and theatre, scooter shop, street food, bands and events all the time.

Know of it. Never been. And wondered where they got the name from. Not so difficult to work out after all

To be fair it's better if the racists and narrow-minded stay away and enjoy their weatherspoons and McDonalds. The more foreign influence in Britain there is in the better.

Correct, I don't have any of that foreign shit. I'll just stick to my curry with a pint of stella!

Talking of 'foreign' shops - when I travel up to the Ricoh, I usually stop at a nice Indian supermarket on the Foleshill Road to stock up on spices. Does anyone know of a decent Polish delicatessen around there (or anywhere not too far away)?

I used to love Far Gosford Street in the early 90s; used to go there and trawl through the second hand shops for records. Not been there in years. I've heard of Fargo Village but not had the chance to go there yet. Might try and check it out tomorrow if it's open.

Well, we went to Fargo today and had a great time. It was really busy and the new brewery was a big success. Lots of stalls and shops and it's all really coming together nicely.

I just love my city, Samo, despite all its failings and I always want to help promote and support local stuff like this and Fargo is a brilliant venture. It has very much a Camden feel to the place and every shop is independent.

So full of foreign shops makes it a bad place?

It doesn't make it appealing. It reminds me of hillfields shopping centre, it attracts groups of people who intimidate. My ex girlfriend got followed by 4 Eastern Europeans last year walking through gosford street in broad daylight, she phoned me and I picked her up by ball hill with 3 of my pals and they legged it. So I'm speaking from experince.

So you think following a woman in broad daylight is a good influence? Love how the racecard gets banded about for no reason

Do you know for certain they were Eastern Europeans?
