Now that's an underestimate .. Sure there are more than one wrong with our beloved owners or did I miss something in the JR outcome?

To be honest this is the only piece of article that Andy has written that I disagree with.

That was before we moved back and the councillor said it's time to build trust. To me ACL negotiating with Wasps is as bad as Sisu banging on about a new stadium.

I don't see why anyone sky blues fan would support ACL on this, regardless of the shit sisu are pulling.

Oh well I'm sure you'll be happy as long as it sticks 2 fingers up at sisu, feck the long term future of our club, feck the long term future of Coventry rugby club. Wait until they swap the sky blue seats for yellow and black seats, replace the ccfc theme in the atrium for wasps memorabilia, and move the ccfc sign of the front of the Ricoh replace it with their badge rename Jimmy's bar to Dallaghio's den, move Jimmy's status to a less prominent place, etc. no it won't be an other night, but a slow and gradual metamorphosis, like when a manufacturer buys out another company and the nestle logo gets smaller and smaller until it disappears and is replace by cadbury's.

Any views on Andy turners opinion piece or are you too busy backing up ACL on this? The absence of comments and some posters on here is telling.

To be fair, Stu, the whole thing is a complete mess. If ACL started talking to Wasps when CCFC relocated to Northampton and said they weren't coming back, then I can't see any problem with that (the Wasps franchise thing argument is another matter).

If ACL started talking to Wasps before all these problems started, then that would be entirely wrong.

From Sisu's perspective, they need to put up or shut up. They have consistently said they are building a new stadium and are not staying at the Rioch and nothing has happened.

I just want to bash all heads together on this from both sides.

It's all getting very tiresome and ridiculous now. This carries on like this and more and more fans are just going to drift away from the club. We're all getting sick to the back teeth of it all.

You're not wrong.

However I still have an issue with ACL talking to a London club to sell a share of a Coventry stadium to them regardless of what's been going on. We already have a rugby club and another rugby club (140+ years old) could put them out of business

And with us back they should put talks on hold.

The problem is there's conflicting stories about when discussions started, which isn't helpful.

I agree we should be banging both their heads together but too many are saying ACL are ok this is entirely Sisu's fault and we know full well there's blame on all sides.

And don't forget a lot of fans don't want ACL to sell to sisu, general consensus was we should come home and rent for a couple of years, and build some trust then look to buy in when trust had been rebuilt. Selling to wasps isn't rebuilding trust.

They should put the talks on hold, but only if Sisu stop saying they are leaving come hell or high water. If they carry on insisting they are going it would be daft for ACL to call off negotiations.

The franchise thing is an ethical matter. It's not something that should sit comfortably with any City fan after what we have had to endure.

Maybe a 'ceasefire' should be in order. Just for a week or two. Suspension of any talks by ACL and Sisu to stop 'looking' for a new stadium option and for them to just sit down and have a week of talks to thrash out an option that would benefit both sides.

Spot on, Otis. Can't even say I'm looking forward to PNE - will it just be another low crowd and everyone talking about off the field stuff yet again? To go through the whole sixfields saga and then acl-sisu to treat fans like this is contemptible. And no offence to any particular posters but this is being to feel like a rerun of all the old pro/anti acl/sisu stuff which when it seems like 99% of fans oppose the wasps idea (as presented in the cov tel) is very strange.

I do not support this but also cannot blame what the Stadium owners are doing. There has not been an ounce of commitment shown from SISU/Otium that can be taken seriously.
All they have done is consistently lie and the so called the building a new stadium is the biggest of them all.
Honestly with what you have seen and if you were a multi-millionaire business man, would you do deals with them? I know I wouldn't

I see it this way either ACL do a deal with the Wasps get the price they want and at the same time get rid of the control of this asset that has been a weight around there neck OR they sit back then after 2 years go through all the headache again.

Now is the time to press SISU on what course of action our club is going on in building a new stadium and where. From here we will know where we stand.

I'm sure the shit off the field will put off a few people from going to watch what's on the field.

With a very insecure future at present you have to think many fans are saying 'what's the point?'

Better than you and blaming anybody but SISU. Countless wrongs makes a right in your eyes.
I've not discounted sisu from blame at all Obtuse. They are ultimately to blame for the club's position but can't be blamed for ACL deciding to sell 90% of their business to a RFU team from outside of the city.

Unless the projections of massive increases in business from Mrs PWKH were a load of rubbish and ACL NEED to sell.

So 90% has now been sold? I suppose you will show no evidence as usual.

And why are the car parks other than C closed for the next game?

ACL need to sell? The usual hopeful thinking from yourself I see. But why don't you look at what is going on instead of hoping for the best as usual. So you want SISU to own the Ricoh when they admitted that we will be renting it off them. And they have never put an offer in it although you blame ACL for not selling to them. Your constant drivel and worshiping of SISU is becoming a joke. But you think that it won't be noticed as you say SISU have been bad for our club. But even SISU would have to admit to that.

Obtuse :D So is your plan to now insult everyone that won't tow the line that you want everyone to lead? So you insult Tony half an hour ago. My turn now. Who is next Fern? Well done.

It seems like none of us trust Sisu, but I see no reason why caveats cannot by put in place within any agreement, to protect the Ricoh facility for the future generations of Coventry citizens.

I am just sick of SISU games..it's gone on for too long and now is our chance to question SISU about what our future plans are for our club... This now gives us the chance to demand what there plans are for the new Stadium or owning a stadium.

They gone so quiet... WHY???

Seriously I expected this was going to happen the day they abandoned the Ricoh. There is nothing positive I can say about SISU. All they had to do was stay put and go for the cheaper rent that was offered. This would have made it very difficult for the Wasp to buy ACL share and given SISU a stronger position especially with the fans behind them.

They played a losing hand in there game of brinkmanship poker and will probably pay for it.

End of the day we can all spout rubbish , the longer ccfc do not own A. Stadium , the longer we will suffer as supporters .
If wasps buy this stadium , then we have to look to secure a new stadium in the future

Nobodys buying the stadium. Its not for sale.

Everybody is talking about buying a share in ACL,

A fact is that LONDON wasps would play their home games in Coventry, no?
I know you wanted to emphasize LONDON to further your argument, but the club dropped LONDON from their name earlier this year, as to quote their CE 'It was also never fully embraced by the fans or the media who continued to refer to the side as Wasps'
Oh...and maybe the other reason was that they weren't playing in LONDON either.
It's a load of nonsense..like LONDON Luton Airport

I have just read Andy Turner's article and can see why it appeals loudly to fans.

I disagree that there is any moral obligation at the top of the council or ACL not to allow the stadium into the hands of Wasps or anyone else for that matter.

Over the years I have attended may board meetings and listened to deals being done from their inception to cheques being signed. One thing is clear. Deals only get done by people that want to do deals. With the Ricoh (read ACL) one or other (or both) have not wanted to complete a deal. From recent court records we know deals have been done for Higgs to sell to SISU only for SISU to pull out... Whether justified or not, when you pull out of a deal you suffer the consequences. More severely when the seller is not a desperate seller. Coming back to the table to do the same deal is virtually impossible due to a lack of trust between the parties.

With the club gone (up until a few weeks ago) CCC and Higgs were / are within their rights to sell some or all of ACL to any party that will complete a deal. If that is Wasps then fair play to them for seeing an opportunity with ACL that wasn't seen by the owners of Coventry City.

Caveat emptor...

Sadly this is what some of our fans do not understand. In busisness which our football club is, one's you walk away from a deal then consider the chances of a new deal coming back on the table for the same party is rare when there are other parties showing an interest. The fact that the day they abandoned the Ricoh for Sixfields was the final nail in the coffin of any new deal between SISU and ACL/Higgs.

They should have stayed put and accepted the offer of the low rent deal. It would have put them in a stronger position than what they are at the moment.

No one has questioned what triggered ACL to set up a loyalty test resulting in a plan B. I suspect that they saw what actions was coming from SISU years before.

ACL's job is to rent out a stadium complex.CCFC/ SISU's job is to acheive sporting success in the football world.

ACL seem to be getting better at their job, and CCFC are mid-table in the third division.

Our complaints should be directed at the people not doing their job, not the ones getting on with their job.

Somebody should tell them they need to update their website then.

  1. London Wasps RUFC

    www.wasps.co.uk/

The official web site with player information, results, news and official merchandise.

Love the fact people think it is ok. Particularly the ones who were most outraged when we moved away. It was only business after all.

People won't mind if Coventry play outside the boundaries and play in the "Coventry Area" if the name doesn't matter. After all London Luton airport isn't in London.

All this proves is that both sides really are as bad as each other. To think so many were supporting ACL. I said all along they were both culpable and I still believe that to be the case, if not now proven by this latest ACL knee jerk.

Somebody with an authoritive presence at the council needs to take charge and sort the mess out. Start by making clear there is negation for the football club to make the Ricoh work for them as the leading occupier. Make available what you would be willing to do and accept.
Let the football club respond and take it one step at a time with the intent of a long term arrangement being made.

Get on with it!

Of course its nonsense  Wasps only played in London from 1867 until 2002, a small matter of 135 years. They now have played in Wycombe, just outside London for 12 years, so to say they are not a London club is disingenuous in the extreme.
