Did Tim gamble with our place in the league? (1 Viewer)

I've thought more about the justification for the groundshare and the whole last minute nature of it which the league had to approve because we had nowhere else to play and could have lost our place in the league if they didn't as we would be unable to fulfil our fixtures. So if there was a clause in the lease that said we could be kicked out of the Ricoh for non payment of the rent would we have faced being kicked out of the league for failing to have somewhere to play our home fixtures? This isn't something the league can just waive at the boards discretion, a club needs a home ground to play their home fixtures. I reckon we would have had about three weeks to find a new home and given how long it took to arrange the one with Northampton it is possible we wouldn't have had one in time. I suspect ACL would have been within their rights to chuck us out (although I din't know this as a fact as I obviously haven't seen the lease) and that's what's really worrying me - what if they had.

Was this a very risky move with our club or would the league have stepped in the commercial dispute between Sisu/Ltd/Holdings/Otium and said something?

Well it's annoying the hell out of me that the rent boycott could have had such serious consequences for our club.

We'd have agreed a temporary groundshare somewhere the FL would of helped to facilitate it, we wouldn't have been kicked out of the league mid season.

No point worrying about something that never happened.

Your question got me thinking about about Sisu/Otium's gamble with us. Surely if the FL wanted to see evidence of a new ground going ahead, wouldn't that involve planning permission. If they don't get planning permission, where does that leave us. Surely if that is the case and the club say "what can we do, it's not our fault", do we not have to pay the £1,000,000 and then what happens. Do we then stay in Northampton indefinitely or do the league get forced into doing something because they have created this scenario by agreeing it in the first place. I know the FL have been a total and utter waste of time so far, but what happens beyond the 3-5 year plan Sisu/Otium have spun them ?

The whole point is that had the league had the bottle they would have said (of course you have a stadium to play in--it's called the Rioch and it's in Coventry). Sort your differences or you are not getting the Golden Share. Simples really.

I thinks it's all about the old path of least resistance. The FL, politicians, media etc follow it. SISU exploit it to the full to maximise financial gain (or in our case it's become minimising loss)

That would be illegal so its far from simple.

I was always under the understanding that ther was a clause that said ccfc would never be evicted from playing at the ricoh,no matter what and it was a written clause by the ccc.the owners would be the ones up for the rent etc ,but ccc would never evict ccfc ,

It was no gamble as despite ridiculous conspiracy theorists on here the council and ACL do care about our club.

Its all Timmys fault, ACL & CCC are always squeaky clean.
he sits in his office for weeks dreaming up these plots!
It was really clever how he fooled ACL Into robbing us of 10 pts, not once but twice!

hes such a naughty boy!

I would say SISU gambling with our place in the championship was more apt.

Now they are gambling with our future full stop.

So why bother asking the league if you can move to Northampton. Just do it.

The football league cannot and never should get involved in a dispute between two separate organisations

They have to side with the club for obvious reasons and they always will.

True they employed a selfish, lazy tub of lard as manager who will never be employed in football again.

From memory there were some clueless idiots who actually thought he was good.

The people who think that also in general thought thorn was a good manager. Odd that.

It is such a shame, Joy falling out with Mutton was the beginning of the end. This is no longer about the Sky Blues its all focused on Seppala getting het own back on the City of Coventry. Tim has no say and Labo is way behind the curve as he as no idea of what has gone before. ACL are moving on, their business is becoming stronger. Sisu need to swallow their pride and come back to Cov, before the FA and Parliament get involved.

I never said it was a plot, I wish they'd negotiated instead of just starting the rent boycott and we'd never left the city. I'm just concerned that if ACL had kicked us out we'd have been looking urgently for somewhere to play home matches. Now the FL might have said to local clubs help CCFC out with a groundshare but also haven't they said that they won't interfere in a commercial dispute.

We could have ended up further away than Sixfields. (Not saying we would definitely have but it would have been a possibility.)

Nothing to do with that.
It's about money and getting the Ricoh for a song.

as part of the PR this week it was mentioned that they did the drawing to satisfy FL criteria.

Sadly, it appears that the FL might stay off SISU's back as they have seen a picture of the winning art project from a year 11 school child.

Nick, this a serious question because I know a lot of crap gets thrown around on this board by all people sometimes. Why is it you always feel the need to post some quick or derogatory put down or comment that infers someone is either stupid, on drink or drugs when they make what you seem to deem a silly remark about Sisu/Otium? Yet whenever someone makes a stupid remark about ACL/CCC we never seem to hear a peep out of you. At times some on here have ridiculous statements about ACL/CCC including the poor Daniel Pelka (and you made reference to it once) yet the ones who claim to be balanced never seem to redress this. I have a grudging respect for the ones who are fixed in their ways despite differing opinions but for the ones who claim to be balanced, I find it hard to listen to them when it is always falling down on one side.

The post made no sense, hence the drugs reference.

The OP really is a senseless point as well. There is no real purpose to it.

I think you may be right about Seppala getting even. ACL getting stronger, I am not so sure. Have you been to the Ricoh lately? The notices show the last large event was in August. It is interesting that when all the protests were going on in Brazil about the new stadiums it came out that a stadium without a major sports franchise can hardly ever keep going. I believe the club are banking on this to allow them to buy the stadium on the cheap. If ACL can keep the stadium going without a sports franchise I would be happy, as SISU may have to rethink. However, it may be that SISU are trying to stop the council supporting the Ricoh through the judicial review. Just a thought.
