I think because both now have had the chance to orally state their case before a judge, the judge has decided the best way is a full review. They are saying there is a case to look at, not who is right or wrong.

Next step is full hearing of evidence....whichever way that goes then the loser probably have a right of appeal.

Long way off a solution.

Yeah, let's drag it out for even longer rather than get the review done.

I doubt it, the council can defend itself in Court. The council feels it has a strong case so it won't be an issue to them.

The council doesn't need CCFC at the Ricoh and has a successful tenant so the distraction of the court case doesn't really exist for them.

SISU has stated their intention to build a new stadium in the absence of buying the freehold to the Arena, again it must mean that the court case isn't a distraction either.

We'll see I suppose....

Can't believe this decision to be honest. At a guess I'd say it goes to court now. Sisu (I think IANAL) could appeal because it's their case as it were. I await correction though.

The court case won't affect anything happening to do with the new stadium, as we've moved on from the Ricoh. So lets see the plans Tim please - we need to be back in Coventry & why shouldn't we start work on our new stadium?

Yeah, they've brought it to the court. The council could only appeal when a decision is made.

CCC legal costs will be horrendous, never mind it will only be the Council Tax Payers footing the bill! How did it ever get to this stage? PUSB!

seems to me the whole JR is arse backwards. from my understanding more evidence was produced at the 1st hearing where documents were submitted to the judge and then at the appeal the lawyers just got up and stated their cases. its almost like the 1st judge was better position to make an informed decision than the 2nd.

could be totally wrong, but that is how it seems

How do you know they will lose? All that has been said is that SISU have a valid argument - not that they are right. It got to this stage by a rent strike by SISU. PUSB YES YES YES imho!

Treating community assets as private corporations is how it got here.

One thing needs to be learned here: football clubs are not normal businesses and football grounds are not normal real estate. Legislate accordingly.

I can believe it. This is what Sisu do best remember. It is their speciality. They win the majority of their cases. They wouldn't have chucked money at it if they didn't think they could win.

Lets not forget, the council have not been found guilty of anything. It is only that Sisu have enough evidence to take it to a hearing. It could be the case that because requests for information were rejected it has worked in SISU's favour getting a full hearing. Anything could happen from here, and the good thing is we will find out the truth behind the situation whichever way it goes.

Why is it happening then?
For the council they have no choice....

Agree with you on this. Unfortunately, as far as the law goes, I believe this is not the case.

Hence my last sentence. This will carry on at clubs across the country in one form or another until the FA or Government step in. Neither look likely at the moment.

How did we get here? Well because SISU brought the case and then appealed the original decision - despite Joy saying we've moved on in her interview with Les Reid, Tim saying we've moved on, left the Ricoh etc. Oh and it will surely only be the Council footing the bill if they lose - which is by no means certain. SISU could end up with the costs for both sides and any guesses as to which business debt that could be added to?

The judge this week obviously agrees there is a case to be answered. Doesn't mean anyone is guilty, just that it needs a closer look.

To be fair she did give them the heads up

I will tie you up in legal battles that will cost a fortune
I will only return if i get the Ricoh and at my price non negationable

A few scorned at the time saying she did not say it.

She has since come out and said she will only return to the Ricoh as Freeholder, and low and behold the council are getting tied up in legal battles. What a coincidence

On the flip side she is a devout Christian :)

The irony being that it's all about potential 'mis-use' of £14m or tax payers money....could end up paying a lot of money on top of their original plan...
