cricket 2025 (3 Viewers)

It is spinning a bit Suthar will tear through them if he gets chance

Hain in the perfect player for the county championship isn't he. Nice and reliable but not the type of player that the England selectors are going to pay much attention to as he isn't smashing 6s all over the place.
Was just thinking the same he is the best player a county can have.

3rd batting point confirmed, currently 233 ahead with 1 wicket to go.

been in great form since the redball restart. Bazball killed any chances of England call-up even though he was much touted before then.

3 down with one of the openers playing like it’s a t20 game.

The 11th over of the this innings is worth a watch typical wizard.

They seem to have adopted a fuck it attitude. BBC reporting that they're pretty confident in an appeal of their points deduction so feel they won't go down, that might turn out to be a mistake. Governing bodies not particularly known for backing down.

Should all be over tomorrow anyway.

Now that Surrey are safe they may change the ruling imagine Olly Pope in div 2 and averaging about 25

academic but Notts look like they've capitulated and Somerset will be having a word with their groundsman as that looks like a strange wicket fora game they needed to win.

Coventry and Warwickshire winning a league in the same year. Surely never happened?

Amazing stuff. Didn’t think we would stand a chance going into this season after failing to recruit a decent batter or two. But what do I know!

Bamber surely deserves a winter tour? Although I’m glad of their availability I don’t know why Hain or Barnard don’t get more England.

The CC is still a great competition. I think I’ve been reading about its imminent demise for at least 35 years!

A lot of credit has to go to Pop Welch he has got the best out of a group of bowlers other counties didn’t want plus wizard obviously

There's an article in the Cricketer, sadly paywalled, about have the ECB have overseen the decline of the blast. An interesting snippet in there is that the way Blast attendances are calculated has been changed to make them lower. Of course this method has only been applied to the Blast, not any other competitions.

not surprised in the slightest. Sponsors pulled out - next deal will be smaller

The Hundred will be a separate TV deal the next time round due to the private owners. There's also rumours the ECB want to unbundle the domestic game from international rights. That will have huge financial implications for the non test ground counties and will more than likely leave The Hundred the only form of domestic coverage.

At the same time in the week the BBC reported their country championship coverage live page got 27.8 million page views this summer, an average of nearly half a million a day, the ECB are considering offering the rights to commercial broadcaster. The idea that any commercial broadcaster will provide anywhere close to the same level of coverage is laughable.

Whole thing is insanity. Poor business to put "all you eggs" in one basket where they believe focussing everything on a comp that lasts 4 weeks (34 games) will bring more interest in cricket than a comp for a very similar product that runs for 2 months with a 115 games - despite them cooking the attendance figures.

The stream for the county championship games is starting to get some decent viewing figures I am surprised they haven’t put it behind a pay wall to help kill the game further.

The hundred is pointless I watch the one day cup which is a free stream played by real teams.

Amazing that players only need to sign for Surrey to get a central contract he hasn’t even played a game yet.

9 Surrey players paid by ECB (some of them transfers in) compared to 2 or 3 from other counties. No wonder they are so wealthy.
Including pope who is available to them most of the season as he isn’t good enough for test cricket

Only been able to follow via the BBC live feed but feels very much like we've thrown this one away

Ive seen some England batting collapses in my time, but that was utterly ridiculous. In the driving seat from the very first over.

No new contract at Lancs for Sir Jimmy
